Good effort on speed of amendment DM :D

Query, What is the fire angle of a broadside (code letter B) if its different from restricted arcs P,S ?

on P4 under gunnery ~ damage dice modifiers the explanation for the ** has WV instead of VW

btw your page numbers go from 1 to 10 rules part, then 1 to 9 again in the ship data possibly due to changing headers, but you may have meant it so ignore this bit if you did mean it that way

Guns listed as "Broadside" fire to Port and Starboard using the illustrated (30 degree) arcs. half the number of listed guns ire to port, half to starboard. I'll see if a better description is needed.

The VW conundrum will be sorted in the next posted version :) (which is now on the site)

wrt the page numbers, yes, thats intentional as the rules and the data sheets are in two different files.

Few more for you DM, please excuse poor explanations and stupidity on my part

1. What is Fire arc "As" (capital A small s) its on a few ships in confeds list

2. Queen of west in Union list (p5) no guns is this correct ?

3. union list p3,
Octarara - no arc on 24lb smoothbores
Miami - no arc on 24lb smoothbores

4. Union list p1
atlanta no fire arc,
monadnock(and sisters) 4x15" should that be 2FT,2AT
Kalamazoo4x15" should that be 2FT,2AT
dunderburg has 12x11" but only 10 fire arcs (8B,2PF)

5. Union list P2
milwauke (and sisters) 4x11" should that be 2FT,2AT

6 Union List P4 for Sciota(+sisters) post 1862. You have "PA above plus.." does PA above mean all guns pre 1862 now fire in arc PA ??

7. P7 confed misouri what are arcs FS and FP
North carolinas should that be 2FT,2AT

8. confed P8 Memphis has No Turn and 0 speed, What is it ?

1. What is Fire arc "As" (capital A small s) its on a few ships in confeds list
Should be "PA"

2. Queen of west in Union list (p5) no guns is this correct ?
Yes, thats correct

3. union list p3,
Octarara - no arc on 24lb smoothbores
Miami - no arc on 24lb smoothbores

Both should be "B"

4. Union list p1
atlanta no fire arc,

2x 150pdr Rifle (CF, CA)
2x 100pdr Rifle (L, R)

monadnock(and sisters) 4x15" should that be 2FT,2AT
Kalamazoo4x15" should that be 2FT,2AT
Correct

dunderburg has 12x11" but only 10 fire arcs (8B,2PF)

Should be 12x 11” Smoothbore (10B, 1PF, 1PA)

5. Union list P2
milwauke (and sisters) 4x11" should that be 2FT,2AT

Yes

6 Union List P4 for Sciota(+sisters) post 1862. You have "PA above plus.." does PA above mean all guns pre 1862 now fire in arc PA ??

Change "PA" to "As" (the word, not a firing arc) - a "Find and relace" error when I changed the designation of the As foring arc to PA.

7. P7 confed misouri what are arcs FS and FP

Change to
1x 11” Smoothbore (PF)
1x 9” Smoothbore (PA)
1x 32pdr Smoothbore (LR)

North carolinas should that be 2FT,2AT

Yes

8. confed P8 Memphis has No Turn and 0 speed, What is it ?

Effectively she was a floating battery.

New version with these changes going up soon.

Effectively she was a floating battery.

So was it towed or fixed ? and was the broadside the same as a ships. e.g.half guns each way, or all guns one way depending on how it was moored ? or a combination thereof

Damn quick reply by the way, thanks

Not really interested in "other era" type rules / ships for VaS.

Would prefer Mongoose not get distracted by that and focus on making the
current WW II ships/planes/subs, etc. more comprehensive to represent
the units involved duing <that> era.

You will be pleased to know therefore that what you are wishing for is happening too. MGP isn't being distracted by period variants such as this because this is a purely private venture so far.

Latest version posted on my website with some very brief rules for sail-only ships. They need a diagram added to clarify a few points. I'll aim to do that this week. Also need to add a few example sailing ships to the data sheets.

One quick one i hadnt noticed before, Flank Speed
... Captain orders the engineer to screw own the safety valves..
Should "own" be down, open on etc... ?

I will try and give it a good read through later

"down"

Just working on some pre-game randomness to reflect uncerainty, mechanical relaibility etc.

You might like to reword the "Moving under sail" paragraph on Page 3 to reflect what you've added for sail.

And I for one wouldn't mind seeing some expanded sail rules in order to try coastal/offshore blockade running with "pure" sail at night etc to aid "silent running" and Day to avoid the visible "steam/smoke"

Notes of query or spellings.

Page 10 should be "reduce coal consumption" not deduce ??

Page 11 para 1 "(wind in the Forward of Fr arc)." should "of" be "or" ???

Page 11 para 3 "To do so they must end the previous turn;s" should be turn's

If pure sails, you say treat engine damage as sail damage etc. But what about detemining damage on ships where they have sail and steam, how would you determine where the damage or critical is ? eg sails/mast or engines, and then the effect of losing one does not necesserilly stop a ship moving etc

Comments assimilated, new version posted.

Hope to be doing stats for European vessels starting next week so you can do Lissa :)
