Iron Wind Metals - ACTA Ships vs Fleet Scale

Mongoose
I have a question. What is the difference is size between the ACTA ships and the Fleet scales ships produced by Iron Wind Metals. Also how good is their turn arround time on orders? Has anyone here ordered from them? Any problems doing so?

The IWM minis are identical to the ACTA ones. Iron Wind bought the molds and piggy-backed on Mongoose's license (or something like that) ;)

A fleet scale Omega is about 1", and comes on one piece (plus base). The ACTA (old B5 Wars) scale Omega is about 7" long and comes on multiple pieces.

Fleet scale are a closer scale to one another (although this does fall down with the Vree).

If you know the ACTA ships, White Star fighters are actually Fleet scale White Stars.

They're that long? Mind you I've never built one so I wouldn't know

Have now received 4 orders from IWM, (never used them before CTA), turn around is about 3 weeks, not too bad US to UK.

Only had 1 missing part in say around 20 ships and problem was sorted fast and efficiently.

Good company.

Must... resist........

Give in to temptation, that vein pulsing in your forehead is bad, release the inner sarcasm, and your journey to the dark side will be complete.

as for IWM. Their customer service was very slow, but helpful when it came. (although he apologised for the slowness, involved some people on holidays) the key downside for IWM is their prices being a bit steep.

I've been working on some things with the Officewench (Melissa) for the last couple weeks and she has always been prompt on her replies to my emails. I was just asking questions and hadn't even purchased anything either! Of course she knew I planning to make a big order as I told her I planned to do. I just made an order for a bunch of Shadow, Vorlon, Earth, Centauri, and Drazi ships! In the past they have been very good to me. I've purchased lots of VOR stuff from them in the past and never had a problem. I've always been pleased with their service.

Turn around time is around one to three weeks, depending upon wether or not they have the items you are buying already cast up. With them being able to sell stuff already cast up until the end of the year, but not cast new stuff, I supect they'll have lots of B5 stuff already cast and turn around time will be good for B5 ships. At the end of the year they have to destroy everything though. So you'll still be able to get stuff from them until the end of the year. It's best to get it now though as you'll be limited to whatever stock they have remaining after June.

I used a very similar line in work once.

"Take the setup, strike me down with all of your sarcasm and your journey to the dark side will be complete"

So it that us being great minds or fools Hiff?

At the risk of either causing a sarcasm outbreak, or a global brain hemmorage epidemic, the Omega is sadly only 4 & 3/4. inches or more accurately 118 mm.

But hey Gregg maybe your EA fleet was happy to see you.

The really sad bit for me personally, (apart from measuring it in the 1st place), was as usual I dropped the ~##!!! thing when I measured it and shattered its base,

(I put it down to my on going Third Space Curse)

Amidst all the innuendo, we almost missed out on this salient point:

Well spotted Greg.

They are taking new orders for casting up until end June, then minis will still be available till end of year depending on stock levels.

lets see order this month, then an order next month.Maybe even some FA.

Something interesting/curious on their fighter prices as well, FA v Std scale.

I thought 7" was a bit much, even a Poseidon or a VCD would be pushing to get 7" model lengths.
