Info on Bwaps

JBRocky

Banded Mongoose
Was wondering if there are any MgT stats on them? While I do have the GURPS stat for them I would just be easier than having to convert them.

They have an article from CT JTAS that would be the nearest mechanically. Based on that, I would give them Weak STR (-4) and END (-4) (both with minimums of 1, obviously), but not saddle them with Amphibious (under Aquatic in the MRB) as they do not fit that key word. They also have career entry DMs (penalties for hands-on military, bonuses for Scouts, Citizens, and Merchants) and a penalty to use equipment meant for Human hands. They are given an odd bonus to Admin skill which doesn't have a precedent in MGT (the first rank they get is doubled).

if you have the GT write up, you already know that Newts are common across the Imperium.

Thanks for the info after I wrote this I took a moment and looked them up on the Traveller Wiki and I think I might have that copy of the JTAS. If I don't something along what you wrote should work, not like I have never done something like this on the fly. Just need to get the flavor instead of worrying about a lot of details.

I don't remember which issues but the Stellar Reaches fanzine had quite a bit of info on the Bwaps, centered on the Empty Quarter sector, trailing-core of the capital of the Imperium. ISTR this is the area the Bwaps came from but I could be totally wrong about that. The authors of zine chime in here now and again so maybe they will see this and point you to the issues of interest to you.

Regardless, it's a great fanzine that inspired a whole new - and different - campaign for us. Highly recommended.
