Influence?? (From merchant)

Heya folks

I'm perplexed...
Influence is rated as follows: Amateur (11+): . Specialist (9+): . Commercialist (7+)Trendsetter (5+)

So the lower my Influence the better? Seems odd since Influence is gained at a +1 in the diffrent carees...

Say my rank 4 Merchant have a Soc 12 (+1DM) and have gained +2 Influence..

If I want to change the prices to my advantage I get (+3 from Soc table page 6) but What is my Influence lvl?

At a loss

Please help
Best

It is a little confusing at first look. Influence isn't rated with a number, it starts at nothing and progresses up through 'Amateur' to a maximum of 'Trendsetter' by influence increments in character generation (which are indicated by '+1 Influence', which is confusing because influence isn't numeric, but whatever).

Your character has 'Specialist' ranked Influence (the second rank), not +2 Influence.

The numbers next to the Influence levels are the target numbers you have to equal or beat in order to make a successful Influence check. This is explained in the paragraph below the descriptions of the Influence ratings.

So a +1 Influence is Sort of like +1 rank in Influence (starting at rank 0) ?

Ahh I Think I get it (stop thoose surpriced looks everyone ) it is ofcause easier for a trendsetter (5+) than a amateur (11+) to Influence the market...

Thanks for dumming it down..

Yes, so if Influence was numeric Amateur would be Rank 1, etc.

But they didn't want each rank to be +1 on a die roll, so they came up with the different target numbers for each rank instead.
