increased creativity

Has anyone else noticed that, lately, there are a lot more rules suggestions and ideas by the forum members to be found here? Looks like the time for arguments is over, and people are really goingt back to thinking about creative and productive ways to improve the game.

To be honest, it hasn´t been a lot of fun to watch the forum for some time (with some exceptions of course), including some heated arguments about some stuff, but things have really improved again! :D :D :D

Or is it just me having delusions?

I think it's because enough stuff about 2nd eddition has been released, that people are trying it out and thinking of new ideas because of it. I expect the playtesters went through this process contniously, but only did so privately with mongoose rather than publicly on the forum.

yeah it is good but will it go back to endless arguements and moaning after 2e is released? i think it probably will, especially once people see how JPB works because however mongoose make it work someone won't be happy.

Someone wont be happy? Thats right and i agree there will always be those opposed to a certain something or disliking another something but then that is the human way.

Just try to bear with folks who are speaking out on things that are important to them. In many cases they are folks who went through Arm., and in some cases even SFoS, being told the powers that be had all the answers. It didn't not work out so well, and folks are trying new strategies of trying to get their opinion incorporated. Silence or quiet comments didn't work, but snearing derision after the fact did, so we've been trained to react in a certain fashion to what we see as cock ups.

That said, the new ideas rules stuff seems to go in cycles of about a month. Folks try out some stuff, put it up, argue it out a bit, go back to the secret lab and make new stuff. Just have some faith that the board winds it's way around. Arguments are mostly about finding out where folks have drawn their lines, once you know you tend to shrug and go okay. Stealth was like that, JBPs now, whitestars previously...eventually each topic dies down as folks either decide nothing can be done, move on, or some change happens.

Ripple (getting just rambly again)

I couldn't agree more :) These things go in cycles and at the moment some of the arguaments are dying down and the creative juices are flowing. This is hugely helped by a lot of the 2nd ed. basics being "out there" now so people know roughly what to expect but also know that not everything is set in stone. This gives people the ideal opportunity to suggest stuff with a real chance of it being taken into consideration!

This is the whole reason I joined the forum. The ACTA group I play with in Auckland is quite small, and the only other people from NZ on the forum are at the other end of the country (hi guys). Part of the fun of any wargame hobby is talking with other players, and exchanging ideas and viewpoints about the game. And it is rather a cool thing to be talking to people from around the world about the same topic.

No, I totally disagree. Let's fight!!!!!!!!

Just kidding. :D The constructive threads are outnumbering the nasty threads now and it's a good thing.
