I know this is a shameless attempt to create traffic on my blog, but it's a nice little tactica I concocted for the Federation.

I'm trying to make for a healthy online community for this game. Lemme know if you think it's in poor taste to link to a personal blog.

EDIT: I just posted it on the call out notes on the Star Feet boards as well.

Thanks! I'd like to see that section of Captain's Log become really strong.

Good write up, well thought out.

I've face the Wolverine in a couple of games and I think its my most disliked Federation ship. I play Romulans mostly.

Nice write-up deadshane, even though you are wrong about who has the best fast cruiser :P. I agree with most of what you said, but regarding your fleet composition - I think you need a few more "conventional" ships in your fleet. If you attempted the maneuver you described, my immediate counter would not be to turn and confront your fast ships but rather push forward into "knife fighting" range and attack your frigates, and on the turn your fast ships speed forward - I would spam them with drones as you have only your phasers left defensively. Good tactic that would be worth trying, but I see two problems with it.

1. Your "anvil" force is made up of frigates that cruisers can quickly and easily blast apart, thus depriving you of your photons and sinks.
2. Your should not charge your fast ships in without presenting the enemy with another threat thus forcing them to split their phaser and drone fire the turn you charge in.

Btw deadshane, the ship with the best point to photons ratio is the BCJ.

Is that the one that can ony fire 4 in a turn though.

Yup that's the one. Plus the difference in points is REALLY small(5 pts). Though of course you get nice shield 30 ship with more phasers and hull points(though frigate has more shields combined). Less initiave sinks that way and you are stuck in reload more if you want to utilise those extra photon's.

If you aren't reloading every turn you aren't capitalising on "more photon's per point" that much but if you reload you could end up in situation where power drain really hurts by not being able to turn to unleash those photon's you reloaded last turn.

For pure photon firingness I take the frigate over BCJ.

Then again I don't like spamming any choise so I take both :) Plus some fast cruisers. Mmmm...Fast cruisers.

Good tactics mate but as previous posters have said they could blast frigates from range with disrupters and drones/plasma's etc . Should cruisers not be a better option with the Wolverines ?
