Illuminati Faction, interesting idea? Or silly fantasy?

  • Sounds great! An evil force to manipulate the other factions!

I thought a heavily armored, well trained and equipped force of "shadowy soldiers", funded and crontrolled by an international conspiracy would be a fun mod Faction for BF:EVO. Sorry if this has already been discussed.

Id imagine them being similarly equipped to USMC [with armour and intel feeds] but with maybe a more unique weapon choice, and far fewer men. Also these soldiers of the "new world order" would be seriously elite, using similar skills to EFTF SAS and USMC force Recon teams. This of course would make it[I all in all pretty expensive for your average trooper but could give some great ideas for campaigns and missions.

First thoughts on stats would be

Illuminati Infantry Squad

Size 1
Move 4
CC 2XD6
Target 4+
Armor 5+
Kill 7+

Rules

Intelligence Feeds: Any army with at least one of these units may re-roll its dice for set up and deployment

Future Soldier System: This equipment, through the use of computers and weapon-mounted cameras, allows a soldier to pinpoint shots and make a mockery of cover. Any model in cover targeted with the [Illuminati Rifle...] will only receive a +1 bonus to its Target and Kill scores. In addition, this unit has a command range of 12”, rather than the normal 6”. Models will also ignore the effects of smoke.

Elite Training: All models in this unit gain a +2 bonus to their Armour rolls when in Cover.

Stealthy: If this unit is within Cover and did not make any shooting attacks in the last turn, units beyond 20” may not draw Line of Sight to it.

Not sure about fire teams, points or even weapons. Anyone know of a good future rifle these guys could use. Something beyond the XM8 maybe? Please vote your thoughts then post up what you think.

I know at the end of the day it would only be a mod thing, but in the BF:EVO pre WWIII environment i think it could work quite well.

no offense or anything, just not my cup of tea. From what I can tell, they (MP) seem to be working off the premise of near future plausible conflict. Hard to maintain suspension of belief when you even mention illuminati.

Interesting ideas though.

if they did id stop playing the game in an instant, i think cobra or venom would be more viable personaly lol.

It would make an intresting faction to do something along this line, although I would drop the Illuminati as a name faster than I would cross the street to avoid David Ike.

Would put this a far bit down the list, but you could definatly have some fun with the idea.

hehe good call on cobra, i wasn't saying they should make it as an actual BF evo force. Its really only for a laugh.

My criticism was more for MP releasing these guys. Although in thinking about it, a clash of civilizations version (probably campaign) could very well use something like these guys.

They would be great in a campaign if you could think of an unbiased way to allow them control factions and stuff, but probably to hard to do in a gaming group.

No offence to the original poster but BF the whole point of BF Evo is its supposed to be near future and based off real life not quasi sci fi lunatic conspiracy theories ;)

Sure its a game but adding made up factions just strikes me as a bad idea from the word go. (and yes I know technically the MEA and EFTF are made up factions but theyre both more or less real and just really a joining of several existing groups anyway (at the moment EFTF might as well be called 'Brittish Army' and MEA, are lets face it, Iraqui insurgents more or less (its just rather politically incorrect to play them as such so a future more organised Milddle easter force is somewhat less tasteless ;))

So overall its not a terrible idea if you want to make up a totally un Evo releated game world but as a direct mod for BFEvo, no. Sorry but just NO.

Ps I havent voted as the reason 'I dont want a small elitist cult' has nothing to do with my not liking the idea, if I had to choose a poll option it would be:

'no the illuminati are a made up faction that exist only in the minds of crazy people who think the CIA are reading their minds with lasers from space' (but they cant get through my tinfoil hat so there! Take that shadow government! MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Ahem...

but the CIA are reading my mind, I had a dream back about 1998 where I shaved a monkey and made him president of the united european federation and then we set off to conquor the world.....

What happens in the next year..... I tell you they read my mind and stole my idea.... Just I had the intelligence to get an intelligent monkey who actualy knew what the world looked like to shave   8)

what happened with shaved monkeys in 99?

the republican party chose one....

he was picked as Republican candidate in 2000, sorry to be a pedant

His campaign started in 1999, he was elected in 2000, my mistake sort of; but I still hold the CIA read my mind and copied my idea... Wonders if I could sue them for breach of intellectual copyright.

if you do let me know, I'm convinced Waddingtons and Hasbro read my mind when I was 8 and developed my idea for a Transformers board game!

ah, but by now they have read your mind and are changing the law to make them unsueable (is that even a word?) and preparing a crack legal team to attack you with miles of red CIA tape.

They could be.... given the problems I am having with British bureaucracy, and how much Blair wants to be Georgre's play buddy.... They are doing pre-emptive red tape battles to sap my spirit so I won't sue them.... Hmm I must resist them and sue for stealing my idea...

Will also start thinking about how cheaply they could buy me off, a couple of hundred thousand tax free pounds would do me nicely :) Wonder if I buy a lottery ticket they will fix it so I win....
