I almost crippled myself

I just managed to roll a 100 on the attack dice, and then a Hit Ally (or self) on the fumble chart. This takes my left arm down to -3.

With a serious wound you are supposed to make a resilience roll oppsed by the attack roll, but how do people handle this when the attack was a fumble?

I'd suggest inverting the roll - ie, treat 100 as 01.

Or, to keep things very simple, just make a straight, unopposed Resilience test.

So a fumble on a 100 would always mean you should roll against a critical? :P

I would go for an unopposed roll, or roll a new attack die.

You could also keep the attack roll, so you have an opposed roll versus your own fumble, which means you would make the roll on everything other than a fumble... Which seems kinda alright, I mean - how many people chop off their own arms?

I think that is the way I would handle it too. It would still be possible to hack off your own arm, but not nearly as likely.
