I recently read Witch of the Mists and Legions of Dead, which present the Hyperborean Witchmen. From what I've read there, these guys are not the sorcerous gang as they are described by the PrC. They look more like the Assassin combo (Soldier / Thief) from Hyboria's Finest.
Sure Conan says they are wizard-assassins, but only their queens use magic in the stories, and Conan doesn't even know about their fighting style (his son has to tell him), so the "wizard-assassin" could be a wrong information.
Comes the magic from the Marvel comics or another novel pastiche I don't know of?
