Hunting Packs

Not sure if anyone noticed but centauri hunting packs just went back to the way they were origionally posted......barf.....

and you thought 4 vorchans were bad, try 5 and rolling against maximus armour and interceptors.

bye bye war level ship per turn of firing.

Even though I'm a Centauri player, I have to agree these are horribly open to abuse. Much as I'd love to field lots of squadrons of Vorchans like this, I don't think it would be all that much fun for my opponents. That's a lot of firepower coming their way in one volley.

Cheers, Gary

Same here and don't know why they went back.

We are continually suggesting "Stressed Engines" or whatever it is called as a simple (and non game-breaking) alternative for Centauri.

I still favour a dynamic squadron-type Hunting Pack over an engine SA I'd never want to use. Anything that promotes critical hit effects is bad news. Doing it to yourself is just madness.

Greg told me he liked "Follow that Vorchan!" - I called it "Damn the Engines, Bring us about!" - I stuck it in the house rules anyway.

LDTD - I would use it.

Its not great but its for the big ships and does not overely enhance our already superb fleet list...........

interesting that all the active (on the forum at least) playtesters like it but its gone nowhere and the one they don't like stays in.....................

TBH, I probably wouldn't use it. As you said, inflicting crits on yourself is IMO a bit daft. I prefer the dynamic squadrons rule. Just steal the rule from the Gaim and you have an already working rule that doesn't really break anything, but allows the "feel" of the hunting pack/swarm. JMO.

Of course you'd use it, you bloody wrote it!

  Good point, well made...........but I am not the only one - still I would be interested to see a proper write up of your idea - it may well prove more popular with the PTB?
