will we ge both for the game ? the Hummwv is such a versatile vehicle compared to the shadow, i think its got a place in a millitary force some where for a very long time to come.

The basic Shadow platoon consists of four air vehicles, six High Mobility Multi-purpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV), two Ground Control Stations (GCS)

and from this it looks like as long as we have the shadow we have the hmmvw

The Marines decided they want to phase out the HMMWV with a replacement that has the same versatility, but is more survivable, quieter, and less of a gas hog.

Technically the Shadow is a concept vehicle, but it's further along in development than any of the other alternatives, so it seems like a realistic option.

Reserve units will definitely still have the HMMWV, and the Air Force isn't looking at any replacements.

thing is they use alot of the same components from what i read on the web, the shadow is just a alternative version.

also the hmmwv is available in more configerations that the invisioned shadow, so i can see it having a place. the gulf threw some cobras in and they proved brilliant for a machine to be phased out, now there upgrding them.

i think they both have a place.

also the post on the shadow platoon was a copy and paist from a secure page (password needed) i dont reay 100% understand it, but i thought it may shed some light to others here.

I wws playing with the HMMWV name,,, it's what the guys that get the leftover equipment in the US i don't know the name of,, home guard, reservists..

You are thinking of National Guard.

I've done a couple more vehicles I'll be loading later on, the Cougar 6x6 and the Panhard AML-90. Both can be used by Mercs and at least one normal faction.

i cant see the hmmwv being phased out though, apparently the shadow uses some hwmmv mechanical parts, i can see the hmmwv being upgraded to have some shadow componens, but to be phased out with its track record, seems mad considering they stuck with the old jeep for as long as they did.. maybe a hwmmv evolution is what is in the future.
