Cosmic Mongoose
So then, I thought about this, and I reckon, as the game is still being playtested, Mongoose "could" release it in alternate formats.
so how do you like yours?
Personally I wouuld like a ring bound folder, with tough sheets, and the ability to add/remove ships, errata, corrections etc as and when released.

I want a book and a PDF, so I voted for CD... assuming the CD contains a PDF, and is included with the book ;)

It would be nice if buying the book version gave you the pdf as well. Theres times when a PDF would be really useful but Im not going to buy it AS WELL as the book!

I'd like it on time and without the errors that have plagued every other release. I am preparing myself to have to wait until Christmas for it
I'd like that too, and I've even bought Satan a new pair of ice skates to get to work on that day.

Hmm I do like nice books but the ring binded idea is also intersting - probably proper book for the rules and binder for the ships as they are the most likely to change and be added to?

a pdf with the book would be good.

ASAP would be my answer !

I'd prefer a book format, but I'd settle for card covers rather than hardback ( enough stuff to carry around without A$ hardbacks adding to the weight).

Voted binder, as no matter what they will always change rules, so no book I buy will ever be good for more than a year or so before I have to start carrying more than one. And that is if they do not produce any more fleet books like the dilgar and drahk ones.

If I have a pdf I can make my own binder (use sheet protectors to preserve the pages), same with a cd...but a book I'm paying for a binding and cover art I'm just going to lose in a year or so. Rather not pay for stuff I know I'm not going to keep. Oh and then I get the joy of re-buying about 80% of what I already own to get a few updates when a new edition comes out or a large update like sfos comes out that I'm better off chopping up and slipping into the current book so I can find everything in a timely manner.

sorry...just in curmudgeon mode...

Ripple

I completely agree with Ripple on this one. I'm still trying to balance out the Arma hardcopy versus SFoS versus original. I'd REALLY like a B5-ACTA binder designed to hold the books with some room for the S&P or other updates!.

I'm a huge fan of properly produced PDFs. I grabbed all the old ActA books like this on a whim, had them in minutes. They are searchable and I can print the portions I want.

Finding and ordering ActA stuff at my LGS is not really a possibility. They rarely get in what I request and usually make me buy a gift certificate to cover the cost before they will place the order.

An online PDF is the perfect distribution method for me.

That would be good, but I voted book. But all your trimmings on the side

It's actually a good idea for a book with a CD. Mongoose can add any number of "cut" scenarios from the books, some bonus goodies in varient ships, or set campaigns, heck, even some of the player produced PDF's (if we could update em to second ed!) as well as the ship sheets/cards we all love using. It's also a good tool for advertising, a basic rulset for SST evo perhaps, so people can get a taster, leading to more sales, and pictures of Ships still to come to whet our appetite...
oops, sorry, slipped into m,arketing mode, but without the marketing speak. What we need to do is follow the traditional AIDA model.... ;-)

I voted ring bound folder and echo the comments in favour of this made by hiffano and ripple.

I would hope that updated & additional sheets would be alot cheaper than whole new books leaving more money for me to buy more ships :D

the good old book, but the idea with the cd sounds also good. like the AOG B5 wars "ships of the fleet" cd´s. like a remake with a lot of bonus stuff from and for the game...what a dream

I like the book format for the rules and a pdf or binder for the fleets. The fleets have the most change and additions. That way I could add easily to the fleet list as they come out. Also a traditionalist, want my rules in a book. Hard to change when your as old as I am.
