How would you handle the Fifth Element in a Traveller game?

Hopeless

Mongoose
As stated this movie was shown a week or so ago and it got me wondering how to handle the premise of this movie in a Traveller game?

So far I was thinking several thousand years ago an extra galactic entity came close to wiping out all life in the then Milky Way Galaxy, it was eventually destroyed by the actions of an entity known to the species present at the time as "The First".

Although that entity disappeared a sample of his dna was kept and stored along with a partial scan of his mind albeit incomplete because he was thought to be the only survivor of his species.

It was eventually discovered that another of the species that threatened the Milky Way Galaxy was heading towards them assumed because it had sensed the "death" of its predecessor.

This led to them trying to recreate a clone of The First however the process was incomplete due to his exact species not being known.

Humanity was discovered on the farthest edge of the Milky Way Galaxy and discovered to possess a similar enough genetic structure to help overcome the initial difficulties in cloning the ancient hero.

However rumours of this project was leaked and not every alien species in the Milky Way Galaxy agreed with the idea of recreating what is considered the literal messiah throughout the Milky Way Galaxy, this forced them to move their project off the planet but not before the original home world was destroyed by a probe sent by their ancient enemy.

Fortunately for the species who lived on the world used as a template for their cloning project another world in the same solar system was terraformed to allow them to complete their experiments undisturbed thus a few of the natives survived on that world when their true home was rendered lifeless.

Its now thousands of years later and the species responsible for creating the cloning project as well as terraforming humanities second world which they later called Earth unaware that the long dead world they named Mars was their true home world and that stories persisted of the devastation that destroyed Mars misidentifying Earth as being threatened unaware of the full details.

Now the enemy is due within a few years, and the alien species that cloned The First decided to unveil their ancient countermeasure however the enemy having already sent probes to investigate has assembled allies of its own to counter the threat it assumes this Galaxy presents.

So when the alien race sends their prized "hero" to meet the gathered ranks of the various races assembled so they can begin the operation to fight against their approaching enemy, this ship is attacked and shot down killing their clone warrior.... devastated they can only stand stunned as the other races invited to the assembly first check to find out what's wrong and then offer their aid as the newest of the races invited the human race learning of the attack attempt to find out more about this hero managing to run a scan of its remains...

They discover its identical to a human bloodline of which only two remains alive, which is where the PCs get involved...

What would you do if you got to devise your own story from the premise from the Fifth Element movie?

The odd thing about "The First" is there usually isn't one until AFTER there is a second, or whoever is doing the naming has a good reason to believe there will be more than one.

I pictured the original entity was named more because of the event that made him famous rather than his species.

The fact no one knew what species he belonged to would become part of the legend after he was gone since I picture him choosing to disappear rather than make use of his fame as he tried to find a world with a species similar enough for him to disappear spending whatever was left of his lifespan and forget the past that preceded his time as The First.

I've been using Traveller rules for the 5th Element universe instead of making 5th Element fit in the Traveller universe.

It was before Mongoose came out, or Mongoose had just come out. I was using Classic Traveller with some GURPS Space. But now it would be much easier to use Mongoose Traveller and Dilettante and Dynasty and Scoundrel. What part of the movie seems hard to do in Mongoose Traveller for you?

I'm wondering how to set it up so if I do get to run it that my players will actually be interested.

Whats your opinion of the Dynasty supplement by the way?

I go to my RPG shelf a lot for that book. You can create your own dynasty family/setting with the book. They have the money and the social standing, so expect only the shiniest equipment. Lots of 5th Element-esque stuff in it. I should probably do a review of it in a video.
