How are the "Free PDFs" distributed?

Mongoose
Hello! I am curious about getting into Traveller, and have been looking at the 2022 core rulebook for a while now. The PDF being included automatically with a physical copy purchase is a huge bonus for me as well, since I use PDFs on my phone a lot for GM prepping while out and about.
I am a little confused how it is distributed though. From looking at another forum post it seemed like I would have to order the book, wait for it to arrive, then take a picture and email it to the Mongoose team, and then they would send over the PDF.

Is that true, or am I misunderstanding something? It seems like a lot of unnecessary steps, so I get the feeling that I'm misunderstanding something here. Thanks in advance :)

(The forum post that made me think this, was titled "Free PDF with Book, how does this work?". Just in case the context matters)

If you buy the book directly from Mongoose then you get the book and pdf at the same time - well you get the pdf immediately, the book is in the post.

If you buy the book from a game store, Amazon or the like you may end up having to get in touch with Mongoose and provide proof of purchase, their customer service is excellent to you will get your pdf.

Okay, that makes sense. That’s what I assumed, but I clearly got a little confused since other people were doing it through bits and mortar. Thanks a million
