Homemade counters. (UPDATE G'Vrahn)

best person to ask for size is sulfurdown, he did some gorgeous drakh counters.
the counters you have done are really nice but we mostly have counters for those ships. need counters for new ships

I'll do more counters of course. I am still sort of learning I would like to do my own vision of G'Vhran.

Is it ok to rar those tif images? Will that defeat the non compression of the tifs? I hope not, because here they are rarred:

Sizewise, the counters (or bases for model) don't represent the ships anyway, but rather the immediate space around them that they control. This is why beam weapons have to hit the centre dot rather than being able to hit anywhere on the counter.

true but if you make huge counters it makes for harder to actually play as moving is more diffictult. size wise more fighters can attack you too.

I find that *.png images give great fidelity for smaller file size. Better quality that *.jpg, and only slightly larger files.

Its quite time consuming, but atleast the ships that I will use. Its also nice to get a picture, or a screenshot from a 3d model or something to work with.

These are indeed awesome. I personally like the idea of doing counters in near scale to each other. Also, I may have missed it but did you say you did the artwork on these yourself? I was looking to make some counters for Earth Alliance to represent the new ships from 2E but couldn't find any decent top down views. In the end, I made some 3d type counters using photos from the website.

Erm not to nitpick but if you had a Narn Fleet sure you wouldnt need the counters anyway? It seems to me if you like the counters, and have a printer, then BAM!, theres your Narn fleet right there

problem with doing them in scale to each other is it doesnt work for counter rules. the g'vrahn is about 2 and half times the size of the official bin'tak counter.
now imagine that with a neroon counter. counter rules say if a fighter is in contact with your counter it ignores stealth, well with a counter this size t-bolts can ignore stealth with their missiles and be out of you AF range

Yeah, Its not practical to use them completely in scale. And do note that the printable tiff of the G'Vrahn is too big. (Better to be too big than too small, right

Anyway, when I get to a point where I can get them printed, I would like to have some difference in size. Like lets say that Sho'Kos cutters would be about the size of a fighter counter.

Obviously that stealth thing has to be house ruled

Seemed to me it has been ruled that AF are firing from the edge like fighters no ? ;-)

why would the shadows need any? they have counters for all their ships
better to do counters for ship that dont have them yet, like all the new ships from armageddon book onwards.
