High Guard or "Adventures in Imperial Navy"

The answer to all of the above is that it makes a better game!
This is purely a matter of personal taste, I think. :D

For me, the technology of the far future should be at least somewhat
superior to our present technology, because otherwise my suspension
of disbelief is ruined. I can imagine a future where science and techno-
logy develop very slowly, but my brain does not accept one where it
"develops" backwards.

Good point well made.

Of course we could be in the middle of a 'golden age' of technology right now, and 21st century artefacts could be much sought-after by scientists of the far future who for some reason could never figure out how to develop decent sensors, top-loading video players, or Sinclair C5-style personal transport vehicles...

I like retro-tech. My favourite SF TV series is still Blakes 7.

A question, does High Guard have smallcraft design rules?

To be honest, 'Adventures in the Imperial Navy' is pretty much exactly what I'd be expecting from a Traveller book named 'High Guard', but I must be missing something...

Thank you for your input Matthew, it is nice to have some hopefull news on this.

Personnaly I hope the new more modern stuff will not be concentrated on weapons. I am certain most modern SF concepts, such as 3d printers, can fit into the third empirium setting if well done (a 3d printer does not necessarily have to be able to create any advanced equipment such as computers, weapons or drugs, being able to actually create a mechanical clockwork device is allready a big feat for a 3d printer).

I don't know, I thought that High Guard was well done. The ship construction was done very similar to CT. For me, I really appreciate that. I was afraid that they were gonna do similar to FF&S.

The problem was that FF&S was too complex for me. I consider myself to be intelligent and do have a Bachelors degree. But the problem is that I don't feel that I should have an advanced degree in Math or Physics to create a starship for fun. When I got High Guard oh so long ago I had countless nights creating starships. And I plan on doing this with the new High Guard.
