Ok well, having recently become obsessed with RPing again.

I was wondering what the Babylon 5 one was like?

I've heard that there are problems between converting 1st ed and 2nd ed books?

Is there any way around this or is it just one of those things?

Also how do I know which book is which or is it fairly obvious?

As a final note, what's the shipbuilders book like?

Regards Andrew

There is, as yet, no complete conversion document, though more conversion material has been promised, likely in future issues of S&P

If the book/box has a blue cover, then it is 2nd Edition, if it's black then it's first edition. Exceptions are the Ship Plans, which are pure fluff and so work in either edition. ALso, I think the 1st edition Galactic Guide is pretty much pure fluff so that should be OK too, but someone may want to correct me on that.

It's absolutely fantastic, one of my favourites, I'm loving running it.

I use the 1st ed books as source material mostly, but a lot of it is totally useable. There may be conversion notes in the future.

It's a brilliant book. If you like taking time out to create things and put a lot in, this is really for you. For the full experience include concept designs and sketches. You can have some real fun with your players with this book. I just bought it and 8 other B5 books and this is definitely my equal favourite, along with Bounty Hunter. They both really go very fully into rules detail as well as making for very good source reading.

Hope this helps.

Second that. 2nd edition B5 is a great system and I'm having a blast running it.

As for your shipbuilder's question: the book has cost broken down by component. Obviously the hull is the most costly, but the book includes everything from the cost of a crew or renting a spacedock to how much it costs to add an external docking ring or more habitat space. If you enjoy crafting your own custom ship from the rough draft of the design up to full prototype, it's a great book.

And I'll back up LBH on the Galactic Guide. Most of the book is edition neutral. There is some material in the back that references specific skills and other things not in 2nd edition, but by and large it's a worth while book.

It goes Fine (I.e. Human in space suit), Diminutive (Repairbot), Tiny (Starfury), Small (Shuttle), Medium (Freighter), Large (White Star), Huge (Hyperion), Gargantuan (Omega), Colossal (Drakh Mothership+). Colossal is pretty much anything MASSIVE upwards.

Ah excellent! Don't think I'll have anything as big as a Drakh mothership....well not just yet

Thanks LBH and dear god someone may know more about Babylon 5 than LBH  :P

Well I will admit Reborn has propbably read more of the 2nd Edition books than I have.

Thanks for confirming the Guide is edition neutral (or almost) Gabriel, I thought it was.
