ah just a question but why do the marines have a 4" move and the PLA 5"???

im going to guess that the Land Warrior style troops will be slightly slower than the others due to weight of equipment or is it some other reason?

I'm guessing the Aussie Marsupials Troopers will have a move of 16". 'because they're FAST!'. :)

LOL! You're going to have a hard time getting the British to understand that obscure reference.

p.s. Frankenstien never did.

Very nice Hiro.. but.. no piercing on the AK, or anything to imply the extra oomph of a 7.62x39 compared to the 5.56 x 45 mm :(

Ah well that's what houserules are for:)
something to reduce cover or enhance the damage roll by about 1, up to half range or so, or armorsaves on soft targets..

AK rounds arent terribly great at penetrating armour, compared to higher velocity rounds from an M16 or similar.

Im a bit surprised they dont get any RPK's or similar, but I guess this is an insurgent kind of unit, rather than regular army troops

lol. I meant the two already...nevermind.

Looks good. Is this something you plan to do through the rest of the game or just good fun until launch time? [still confused and too lazy to read back through 9 pages to find the answer.]

I dunno, when it comes to stuff like shooting through walls i think the AK has a definite advantage, altho representing it the game without making it capable of taking out APCs seems to be difficult:D
I'll go for a reduced cover solution when i game at home..

Its hard to do anything definitive without us knowing what the armour ratings are going to be for things like transport vehicles, trucks etc.

As far as a game effect, between an AK and an M16 firing at a target partially concealed, I think its going to come out about even. Even if the AK has more penetration (and it well might, I dont really know the spec's, just what I;ve heard from people thats dealt with them a little bit), they loose out on accuracy, which reduces the chances of landing an actual hit.

I'd propably rather consider something with suppression, since AK's are fully automatic, unlike the M16 and... I believe.. the british service rifle ?

In the end, i think it depends more on the guy firing it (which the rules unfortunately dont let us model).
A special forces guy is going to do better with a poor rifle, than a green conscript with a laser gun :)

Actually Weasel, the origional M-16 was fully automatic. The current version is the M-16A4, which comes with single shot and burst fire.

Anyway...
