Thank Hiro. Merry Christmas to you too ya slacker.

I think that officially changes my mind. I'm probably going EFTF with MEA as a backup down the road.

Hm... the only difference is a there's no Sergeant and no intelligence feeds on the british infantry. Still not bad, how different would two armies that operate and are equipped similarly be?

Can I put my vote in for the Fedayeen Squad next? Being disappointed in the performance of the standard MEA infantry, I think they may have some redeeming potential.

I see that the PLA INF PLT is 190 pts....so what is with that...where is the stated human wave effect...when you have to pay 30 extra pts. for 2 extra figures...

that in no way reflects the potential of the PLA infantry...they are much cheaper equipment wise to field...and the PLA can field 500 Xs plus the number of infantry that any of the other factions can...very unrealistic in my opinion...this does not even reflect the description given by Mongoose...

"an irresistable wave of hunmanity , sweeping accross the battlefield"...unrealistically limited by the Mongoose stats , I am sure for the sake of the holy - game balance...

I'll vote for the Type 99, if for no other reason than to find out if its gun gets an anti helo capability :)

Of course they created the PLA's points with game balance in mind. If you don't want a balanced game, just throw out the point values and hope someone will play you. The PLA still seems to have some of the best infantry of the starter sets for a "human wave" force. They have two effective anti-armor weapons in the base unit. This allows them to buy infantry without worrying about being useless against enemy armor. The British and Americans are toast against armor if they don't have a tank on the board, and even then its a case of all your eggs in one basket. The choice to make a PLA force mixed or all infantry will be made by the players, not dictated by the rules.

Points values are a poor substitute for an interesting scenario. Especially once people get over the "my army must win at all costs" junk.

If you want hordes of chinese swarming all over the beleaguered euro's, set up the table with a platoons worth of brits, give them solid cover and entrenchments, and a certain time limit to hold out. Have the PLA come in 2 to 1, with a third platoon in reserve after a suitable amount of time.

Rinse and repeat, switching sides.

For extra panic, have a chinese tank show up in the british flank after a couple of turns. Give the brits one turn to freak out, then have them deploy an anti tank team :)

its of course worth noting that we have no damn idea about how the PLA actually fights, since they havent fought a conventional war since.. well... a long time ago
