Gyrojet Weapons Under Water ?

Well, that's early first Imperium...
Not really, it is non-OTU, and the technology assumptions are slightly
different. :)

A Gauss weapon - I suppose this is what you are thinking of - would
require a quite big power pack, and lasers are not used as planetary
weapons (dust, fog, rain, smoke and aerosols making them rather
useless).

Sonic - ouch missed that!

Guess some form of active acoustic suppression is in order (and maybe some ear plugs)

P.S. - so they probably aren't effected much by acoustic weapons themselves - but how about light (particularly say red laser light as opposed to the blue spectrum least absorbed by their environ)?

Lasers are very uncommon weapons in this setting, but I think the player
characters will try something like this if the gyrojet rifles fail to do the
job.

After that fails and they get chewed on a bit...

...then you can tell them about the local version of 'shark repellent' made from the leaves of the plants they've been stomping on while getting into the water :D
