And if you happen to be in the Roanoke, Virginia area this weekend, I will be a guest at MystiCon. Come by and say hello!

Hey, this is Brian from Mysticon. I told ya I post here. That was some mighty fine GMing. Had a ball roaming about Cascadia with the other players. I'm more sure than ever that Traveller will be the perfect RPG for me to cut my teeth running and Cascadia, a fully fleshed out subsector, is a colorful and varied enough place to get things going. The 21 Plots and 21 Plots Too books dovetail nicely into the automatic campaign structure of the new Campaign Guide as well.

Couple questions:

Some Plots name specific worlds in Cascadia but seem like they could fit in just about anywhere. That a correct assessment?

I really loved the conceit of the playtest that had us based out of Chance. It's the best of both worlds mixing up the recurring base of operations (and anyone who's watched the Los Vegas TV series knows just how rich a source of varied plots a casino can be) and adventuring around on errands for the main patron there.

But on reading the Cascadia subsector book I didn't see any suggestion for DMs to use the setup that way. Perhaps I missed it. But that's such a good idea I'd suggest stressing it even more in future editions.

I might even suggest a whole book just about Chance. You could use the Campaign flowchart from the Campaign guide for structure and create a host of custom encounters and situations and patrons that would just be found there (but that would send the players scampering all over Cascadia of course). Sort of the City State of the Invincible Overlord to the Wilderlands of High Fantasy...if you get that reference.

Anyhow, thanks again for a truly good time, Mssr. Watt!

Thanks Brian! I'm glad you enjoyed the games. You did an excellent job as Ethan Mau and really embodied the character.

Even though we do assign some of the scenarios in 21 Plots Too to certain worlds, you can certainly move them to any of the other worlds in Cascadia (or in any other setting for that matter!). Its our hope that the books can be useful no matter which setting or background you choose.

In the upcoming Cascadia Adventures, we plan on doing more with the idea of using Chance as a base of operations for characters. Not only is it a great place, but its also centrally located.

Thanks for the compliment. I may be uneasy about the prospect of my skills as a GM but back in the day I was always one of the best roleplayers in my groups. It'd been many years since I'd had a chance to flex my muscles in a live RP situation. Online, as cool as it can be with good folks, is not the same thing at all. I'm just glad the LARPers didn't drag me off.

I'm glad too. You were a great asset to the games.

You should give GMing a try. I think you'd do great. Either way, I hope the products help you and that you have enjoyed them.
