Grenade Launcher and LAW Clarification

Do these HAVE to be readied for use? I noticed that they are also listed in the standard weapon section in addition to their entries in the special rules part of the card. If someone does not want to "ready" the weapon, can they still fire it using its straight statistics and forfeit the bonuses provided by the special rules?

Both weapons may fire once a turn and may never be used in a reaction. There is nothing on the unit cards stating they must be readied.

Okay sounds good. The only reason why I was wondering was in the rulebook it says that all special abilities have to use a ready action. Since both of these weapons have entries in the special rules, they would have to be readied.

Also, if they are used as a normal weapon, etc...I assume that they do not benefit from any sort of splash damage? The way the card is structured, it makes me feel like everything in the special rules section requires a ready action

Just the wording. If the card or rule doesn't say you have to ready then you do not. Just go by the cards and remember the cards will override the basic rules when there is a clash between them.

The cards for both weapons have splash damage, and they DO apply.

compare the grenade/LAW rules to the machine gun rules on EFTF/USMC infantry cards - it specifically states that you need to ready the gun to gain the extra damage dice and double supression. The splash damage is a natural side effect of grenade/LAW/tank main gun fire, just be sure to differentiate the damage dice from the grenades.
