Graphic novel/comic resources

Hey all-

Wondering if anyone had suggestions for (not neccesarily Conan-specific) sword & sorcery comics/graphic novels, that might be useable as material for a Conan game?

I'm thinking the old Warlord series (I believe the TPB was Savage Empires or World) from DC would be a good resource. Anyone got anything else to add?

There were lots in the seventies and eighties.

Besides 'Red Sonja' and 'King Kull', there was also 'Arak, Son of Thunder', 'Arion, Lord of Atlantis', 'Cerebus', 'Groo the Wanderer', 'Elric of Melnibone', 'Nemesis the Warlock', 'Slaine', and others.

More recently, there's 'Demonwars', 'Sojourn', 'Hackmasters of Evernight'.

How strange that just this morning I was thinking of Arak, as an example of a fish-out-of-water campaign. I was comparing it with the old Haakon novel series, which had a Viking hero venturing into the untamed American continent and encountering Native Americans.

I remember collecting most of those back in the day. But I forgot about Groo. I had a good laugh when I recalled that one.

'Elric of Melnibone'

Elric of Melnibone is another personal favorite sword/sorcery and decadent fun. Could pull some useful stuff from the Dragon Lords of Melnibone d20 book too. Also the Stormbringer RPG is good source of info. The books of course being the great story of how Chaos and magic makes the world a nasty place. Demons, drugs and decadence, all would fit Conan well.

You could always go and ask him directly, on his website: http://www.multiverse.org/ - he's often available to answer questions and seems fairly easygoing.
