Gorn in da house!

Mongoose
Got my X-mas present in yesterday.
A Gorn fleet box.
After all the previous issues with Mongoose minis, my wife let me open it to confirm accuracy of contents and quality of pieces. Everything was present and accounted for - including an all-metal Gorn DN.
[Is this typical of th Gorn boxes, or did I just get lucky?]

Quality-wise, this was the best box to date. about 10 minutes with a needle file and 15 of the 16 ships will be ready to prime. One of the CLs has a bit more flash than the others, but even that can be repaired in 5 or 6 minutes.
All of the engines were dry fit to the hulls to check how well they matched.
Nacelles with pins/divots fit well with little or no gap remaining.
Nacelles with slots/tabs fit well enough to stay in place with no adhesive.

All in all, this was what I expect of miniatures. No complaints and I hope this means that mongoose is finally getting past the potholes and speed bumps associated with the initial releases.

Great job on these minis, Matt. Thanks.

Did the new style bases come with your set? If so, what do you think of them?
Yep... new bases.

Haven't given much thought to them (and won't be able to compare the two side-by-side unitl after I "officially" receive the box on X-Mas.

Sweet, good news, Tony.

I have a Gorn fleet box on my wish list, but we'll see if one arrives or not. If not, I may get one after I get the Roms painted up. Have to have their natural enemies after all. :D

I received my Gorn feet box and all the ships were great. mine came with the new bases too. I don't plan on using then. I bought up all the old bases i could find.

That's probably what I'll do. too.

I have over 300 of the old-style bases, so that'll probably be enough for a spell.

The new Gorn look really good, how are going to finish them?
Since it'll be another couple of weeks before I get them, I have some time.

But they will likely be finished just like the rest of my minis...
Clear gloss coat.. decals... clear matte finish.

Oh! You're probably asking about color pallettes.
That I'm not sure about. I have 2 or 3 dozen Starline 2400 Gorn minis, but never painted a single one.

I'll spend soe time after christmas playing with various grays in various combinations until I get a mix I like.

I also have a Gorn Fleet box. The quality of the minis is simply the best I've yet gotten out of all my Mongoose minis. Few issues at first glance. Looking forward to painting some up.

I'm not so fond of the new stands and will have to come up with some other way of mounting the ships, as my storage method does not allow for permanently mounted stands on the ships.

I was missing a mini from the box, and am waiting to hear back from Mongoose on a resolution.
