Well, this forum is going to close next week, so I guess it is time for some of us to say goodbye to Mongoose Publishing. Not that I'm mad about what is happening with the LW line: I'm disappointed, but I have the feeling that it is not Mongoose's decision to end the production of the LW brand. There's no hard feelings.
I did join this forum a few years ago, so that I could get news on the republication of the LW gamebook series. I'm not a RPG player, and with the end of the LW line here at Mongoose, I have no interest in visiting these boards anymore.
As a farewell comment, I would like to thank the people of Mongoose (there are surely a lot of them that we don't know their names that are working in the backstage of the production line). I would like to thank all the artists that did work for the LW gamebooks: Pascal Quidault, Alberto Dal Lago, Richard Longmore and Nate Furman.Thank you to the various authors that provided us with the novels and bonus adventures. Of course, Joe mentions over at the PA website that he now holds the rights of the series and is in talks with other publishers, so I hope that if a new publisher picks up the LW line, we will see more work from the artists and authors that I've just mentionned.
However, I don't think we will ever see Matthew Sprange linked to the LW brand again, so thanks to him and Mongoose for bringing the LW series back to life. Without them, I don't think that the French, German and Italian publishers would had picked up the rights for the LW gamebooks in these languages which helped creating a new fanbase around the world. I think the LW series is more popular now than it was back at the end of the 90s. I think the future is bright for the LW series, thanks to Matt.
I'll still be visiting the PA boards, so come and have a chat with us there. For those that won't come over, it was a pleasure meeting you.
