Glorantha question

Hi folks, just started getting into the new RQ and I'm really liking Second Age Glorantha, but can someone help me out with a question thats been bugging me?

Where exactly is the University of Pythos? I've got all the Mongoose Glorantha books so far, and I'm probably missing the obvious, but I can't actually find its location.

Anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks :D

The so-called Pythos University is a hole-in-the-wall "college of sorcery" located above a wine-shop in one of the dodgier parts of Sog City, and the so-called "Dean", Spolorfal the Arranger (arranger of what - empty bottles?) a drunken sot who bamboozles ambitious but stupid merchants and richer artisans into filling his pockets with silver in return for a distinctly rudimentary sorcerous education for their fat, spoilt sons.

The current premises is the third; he was ejected from the first for failing to keep up with his rent, and the second was blown up by a sorcerous disaster which explains Spolorfal's need to wear a frankly absurd looking wig.

Avoid this man. he is a mountebank and a scoundrel and he owes me 1700 silver!

(Actually, I don't know either. It may well be an incidental invention by Robin Laws, but perhaps some of the Glorantha experts can tell us different.) :D

Much to my surprise, a University of Pythos appears in the unpublished (yet) "Blood over Gold: The Trader Princes"

From the Gazeteer:

Pythos University (ruin): Lying undisturbed under twenty feet of water, this God-learner school appears completely intact. Students and faculty continue their daily regimen - as ghosts. Unwary investigators soon find themselves registering for classes and attending lectures...

Pythos was in mid-Wenelia. This may be the same place. Blood over Gold takes place in the Third Age, long after Slontos has sunk and the God Learners... well... you know.

Edit: My surprise is mostly because I had forgotten I had written this bit.

Jeff - flattered if its the same place

That sounds more like it Voriof, the Grain Goddesses switched were those of Slontos and Wenelia, so it was obviously a local project.

Thanks!! :D

Yes, that did surprise me. Inica and Einkorn, poor girls. In the 3rd age, the place is still screwed up. Rice doesn't grow well in the highlands and highland wheat doesn't do well along the coastal swamps. ;)

Voriof
