Glorantha fan art: Morocanth Herder milking one of his cows

As a matter of interest, how would people draw a morokanth milking a herd beast?

Is it possibe to do this in an inoffensive way?

Maybe a lack of nudity on RPG covers is what's holding the industry back these days - FHM seems to be selling well by comparison. Got to move with the times ...

struggled for long enough with the whole chainmail bikini thing

He's having a go at Kate Bush now!!

Chainmail bikinis are pretty. My girlfriend wears one sometimes.

Oh not at all. The adorable Ms Bush will always have my utmost respect and admiration. As would anyone brave enough to wear such a garment, male or female... :D

I think a good start would be making the female herdbeast look more like a animal (which happens to be shaped like a human) rather than a glamour model. We're talking hairiness and dirt here, not a well-coiffed bleach-blonde hairdo. The pose is wrong too; a herdbeast on all fours is about as likely as a cow on two legs, surely?

I can imagine a decadent Lunar training a herdbeast to pose like that, and cleaning it up to look human, for the shock value... but why would a Morokanth bother? Far as they're concerned, herdbeasts are just meat animals.

If people have problems with a picture of one being milked, how would they feel about one shown being butchered and roast?

There was an excellent picture of herdbeasts carrying a morokanth on the front of (iirc) Wyrm's Footnotes 7 (a red cover). The herdbeasts were unkempt and looked like retrograde, blank-faced human beings, almost as if the artists had started with chimps/gorillas and worked forwards to meet a human going backwards.

What was particularly good about them is that they didn't really look like anything normal humans could relate to in any way.

Yes, I know the one - that was a much better view of things. The pic debated in this thread isn't so 'realistic': too clean, hair washed and brushed, no calluses, extraneous body hair shaved off - something funny going on there. I didn't know there were any Welsh Morokanth - perhaps New Zealand? Or maybe he's just about to enter her for Crufts. (If you'll pardon the expression).

More offensive morokant art from the fan art gallery!

Do a closer study of tapir anatomy, e.g. from GIS:

Not so bipedal/humanoid, no segmented snout, bulkier body, etc.

I thought the pic was funny. I think it is clear by the pic that it is not trying to depict reality. Anyone can be offended by anything these days. Considering the mature themes of RPGs, it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

I think you misunderstand the word mature in the context you are 'trying' to use it.

Mature doesn't =sexist.

Thanks for that bit of insight. Really, that was refreshing. What I was talking about is that RPG's in general are about themes that require a mature audiance. Is it worse to be a sexist or a killer? Since most RPG's, I aware of, glorify killing, stealing, and what have you in the context of being "heroic', a little sexism joke shouldn't cause all the fuss it has. I'm not saying it isn't sexist, it is. But then it wouldn't be funny, now would it?
