Glorantha fan art: Morocanth Herder milking one of his cows

But I've been laughing all the time since I got it so I had to post it!
No, you didn't have to do anything. Did someone have a gun to your head, Trif?

It's offensive alright, especially to women. A great advertisement for Glorantha. Great to see how far the hobby's come in these enlightened times.

And before you (or anyone else) bust your carapace and call me humourless, or a prude, just look at the imagery being portrayed. Look at the sorts of message it conveys. It IS offensive; it's not remotely funny. It's degrading and puerile. It has no redeeming qualities.

If I want porn, I'll go find it. I don't want it, or need it, hand delivered in a lame disguise at being funny or ironic.

I hope this thread gets locked-down pretty quick.

Oh, it was at least remotely funny...

But I'll post something from the gallery acceptable to those with a softer carapace instead: :)

...Ah... fun while it lasted!

More gems to be found in the fan art gallery!

This one will last... about 5 minutes probably before some sensitive soul takes offense. But I've been laughing all the time since I got it so I had to post it!

What? Where? When? Huh!

I don't check the forum for a couple of days and I miss a picture that is Gloranthan, Sexist and Offensive? Could someone email it to me or point me to a link so that I can be offended too?

Don't worry, I've seen it on the Greenback Clan's site and posted there. Didn't look particularly offensive to me, but there again I'm not offended by pictures of buxom milkmaids milking cows either.

Wouldn't it be a female Morokanth, not a male, doing the milking? Waha's eyebrows raise; he is offended. :)

And that Morokanth seems to have a lot of Jelmre in him anyway?

Maybe it is? How feminine is a Morocanth female anyway?

Grandfather Morocanth takes offense!

This is a Jelmre:

Not even the least similar!

The artist had a great laugh too when he heard of all the offense that was taken to his picture!

I don't like the piece for several reasons:

1/ She looks like she just stepped of a lap dance stage rather than travelling across a blasted wilderness.

2/ He is taking (from his look) too much (sexual) pleasure in what he is doing.

3/ As someone said he should be a she.

4/It is sexist.

I'd be willing to agree to that. I did however still find it very funny. Guess my sense of humour isn't as "sophisticated" yours.

Now all your bickering has caused sensorship to be applied to the fan art gallery! Shame on you! :?

I found it funny as well. I suppose we're both unsophisticated neanderthals.

I've saved a copy, so if anyone else wants to be offended let me know ...

It did not offend me. I think the Morokanth thing reminds us that we humans are mammals too. One of the nice aspects of playing RQ.

Consider it from the point of view of a female, perhaps interested in learning more about Glorantha, perhaps interested in playing RQ. That image, irrespective of what it says about humans as mammals, or the irony of morocanth herding humans, or whatever, was clearly sexist - and not in an especially appealing way, either. This industry's struggled for long enough with the whole chainmail bikini thing; a picture like that just compounds the stereotype of the puerile-minded, sexist adolescent male gamer.

As to censorship in general: the most effective kind is simple self-restraint. Just because you find something funny or amusing doesn't mean the whole world will too. That picture was obviously going to cause offence to someone, so simple common sense should make you pause for thought, think about the wisdom of posting it. Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

As to censorship on the fan art gallery: that's the business of that particular website. But, here, on these boards, owned by a UK publishing company, a website where, I dare say, minors may browse, it simply wasn't appropriate.

"Macho Women with Guns is about hard action, a lot of tongue in cheek humour and, above all else, big guns carried by tough women! Lavishly illustrated throughout... Whether you enjoy pulling on tight shorts and leaping across chasms..."

Seems like your employers are really into that struggle yeah.

Oh, but the funniest part was posting it! :P

Yes, yes, we must restrain ourselves to pictures of violence and killings instead. All to protect the minors!

I agree whole heartedly with your point here, picture of gratuitous violence should be treated in the same way as pictures of a sexually exploitative nature.

Hehe, I'll try to tone it down. Just for you!

Yes? You think Mongoose will pull the cover of their Slaine RPG then? Fantasy RPG is a lot about violence & killing you know.

(It was fun though!)

Noticed the 'Goose had already toned down the Conan 2nd edition preview internal art, God forbid there's a ni**ple showing
