German Transport Question

Secesh

Mongoose
I just saw the Leopard 2 model - OUTSTANDING!!! - I can't wait to build an armoured platoon of those. I remember hearing German AT teams were coming down the track, but according to the rulebook infantry must be fielded with a transport if part of an armoured platoon.

Is the intention to field Heer with Warriors (as part of the whole EFTF joint operations theme) or has anyone heard of plans for a German APC in future?

Same question applies for the French, has Mongoose mentioned a French APC to transport French infantry in a LeClerc platoon?

Don't see why lychs(or whatever their name was) and/or Marders wouldn't be released later.

But for when your quess is as good as anybody's.

Germany is replacing the Marder with the Puma and france the AMX10 with the VBCI

However there hasn't been any word on them yet so if you want a mechanised force they'll have to go in the Warrior.....

If you want to stick with MGP models only, use the Warrior and call it "Puma" - either the basic Warrior card or the "Warrior 2000" for Puma with add-on armour package. By 2020 Puma will probably be the main IFV of German forces...
Puma is close enough to the seriously upgraded Warrior the MGP is selling.. Of course it looks a little bit different, but there is no Puma model on market in any scale.. yet.

As I just weighed in elsewhere on the forums:

Quoting from P. 38 the EFTF Armoured Platoon construction rules:

Transport: Must take as many units as necessary to carry all Size 1 models.

You have to buy them for the platoon, nothing says they have to be deployed in the transports.

That's a sexy beast. Makes the Bradley look like a lump of coal.

That's not a bad idea at all in lieu of Mongoose announcing their intention to do a German APC.

Deployed in them or not deployed in them, you still have British Warriors in a German armoured platoon which is a bit dud.

The same applies for an MEA Government armoured platoon. What do you deploy them in/with? Technicals? Why not a BMP-2? That would be much more fitting. I think if Mongoose do a tank and an infantry squad of a certain nationality they should also do an APC to go with them for armoured platoons, ie:

German - Puma
French - VBCI
Government MEA - BMP-2

I am hoping that MGP will release variant cards in S&P for the Puma and teh AMX10, that can be used with Warriors untill they get round to releasing models for them.

They could also do cards for French and German command squads, Well just change the name and the pictures as I imagine stat wise they would be identical to the Brits.

Cordas, by 2020 the French Army will not have any AMX-10Ps, so releasing a card for them would not be a good idea. Like Secesh said - VBCI is the way to go (at least until the French announce some new programme).
