This came up before in off topic.
Some member tried to get a license for it, and the company never contacted him back about it.
Basically, it is too like starship troopers to work, some people think.
Basic business sense would tell you that a gaming company like GW or MGP would have problems getting such a license, even if it were not very similar in some respects to starship troopers.
1. The lisence fee would be astronomical.
2. Everyone would want the collectables.
3. The scale of some copanies is not big enough to mass prduce buckets of gears of war figures.
Lets say that tomorrow a toy company, for example, produces two ranges of action figures:
Aliens Versus Predator
and
Starship Troopers
Starship Troopers action figures would simply not sell as well becasue Aliens versus predator has a new movie ocming out, not to mention the three other movies before it, numerous video games, numerous novels, and comics. Then you have the same for the Predator license, the Alien license, not to mention the mighty Juggernaut of evil that is Fox behind it.
I did not mean to mention to miniatures games above from different companies, but I just got a bug for AVP recently, buying the DVD and changing my avatar. No offence was meant.
