because of the 3 dimensions........ feeling of deja vu here......

Just a bump here, to prevent this thread being deleted by the forum's auto-pruning mechanism... this thread has a lot of interesting information :)

yup as Katadder says this is 3D so there IS up and down. Of course I think boresight shouldn't be in the game anyway....

thank you that means every one played bore sight wrong its lik front arch you need only to say that youre ship is rolling to a side.

Back to topic.

I hope that the Centauri and Minbari get nerved. At least that both get beatable and the Centauri loose their beam teams. Hopefully the Shadows become muich more powerful then they are now under ARMA rules.

I fear most that the new Spec Ops / Psi Corps list will make any other EA fleet list unattractive because of the extra ships they get.

from what I have read so far, I am sure the Minbari will be somewhat susceptible to massed e-mine fire, although I wouldn's say they were broken now, unfortunately it's a game of chance against minbari even more than against others. Averages "should" kick in when you roll 10 twin linked dice against say a dilgar, but the one shot chance to even target a Minbari is where you get kicked in the crotch. in a 4 arm battle at weekend, in one game we missed 2 from about 14 stealth rolls (and these were rolling 6's!) to the folloing game I missed 30 from 32.... luckily my ally passed enough that in the end, though we lost, the Minbari had two half dead sharlins left.

The Stealth is a bit of luck. The last games against Minbari at my locak retailer were catastrophic. Nearly every player lost because of the Stealth. The best what could be achieved was a destroyed Tigara. The revised Troligan was the subject of much debate, too.

I am sure that considering stealth, the Minbari are pretty balanced stat wise, but for whatever reason, stealth never seems to be average, it always seems to make or break games.

Yes and no, I'm betting on the Emines;

Remember, if the hints are accurate, most E-mine systems don't reload. Pulsar mines do, but Emines only reload, if I remember right, on the Ka'Bin'Tak and the Dag'Kar (there's a reason to buy one!).

So, if the Minbari spread out their deployment (reasonable for the Battle and War hulls, as they prefer to live a long range), you'll be able to blast one ship pretty good, but then it'll be over, and if you haven't killed that Sharlin, the CAF will still be there (as opposed to when we had Ionics available).

It was the Ionic function that I thought made Emines desirable. That's gone, but the damage increase may be suitably impressive, especialy against cluster-swarm races (Drakh Raider fleets particularly; also Abbai, Drazi, Dilgar, and probably now Centauri Vorchan stacks.)

Ionic e-mines are too good IMO. They automatically remove special actions from all ships within a radius for the current and next turns, and the target can do nothing about it. Not a fun rule, they should at least get a CQ saving throw. Plus they do damage as well!

Yep, right. I sat to often on the wrong end of an E-Mine with my EA. Regretably I don't have them to kill a Sharlin.

After a game against Narn with Vree i say the hole E-Mine system is to good. No dodge no Stealth Only hope that he rolls bad.

I have never seen e-mines take out a whitestar, or any minbari above a Torotha (apart from the very first incarnations) (prinme examples of stealth and dodge)
on any given turn, versus say a whitestar, a G'Quan would fire an average of 6 e-mines. thats 6 dice, requiring 5's to hit, so 2 hits, doing 1 damage to adaptive armour. at the end of that turn it gets repaired.
absolute mass e-mine fire could take out a whitestar, and likewise a minbari ship, but all that time the whitestar can out maneuvre the G'Quan, outnumber it, and dodge every other weapon system, likewise, a Tinashi with it's 38 damage therfore needs 38 e-mine hits against it, assuming a fair spread of dice, thats over 100 e-mines that need to be fired at it.

Against vree, again, you can easily outmaneuvre him, sit outside secondary weapons range, using turreted weapons, and whilst it would take time, a Good vree player should not be worried by a few e-mines.

Stealth - yeah...just a sucky system. I have yet to fight a battle in which I got average rolls vs stealth, though I have seen one. It is an issue even on non-minbari hulls, you just notice it less due to it not being such a large part of the battle. Any game mechanic which essentially says 'roll a die and see if you get to play this turn' is bad, that the other guy is also beating you silly at the same time due to outstanding weapons (even better in 2ed according to hints) makes the minbari game tough to stomach. I would never allow one in a demo due to just turning off all the folks who want a game of skill rather than luck.

E-mine - single e-mine systems don't scare anyone. A lot like Sag's back in the day. Its when you come up against the 3 G'Karith, 2 Dag'Kar stack that you find yourself wondering how you survive that squadrons fire. Whitestar will do alright due to adaptive...but what about a set of Vaarka...or a Teshlan.

The answer given is maneuver and placement, which if the thing didn't have front arc and 20 to 30 range works well, but it does. You can rarely avoid anything with a 30 inch full arc range the first time it wants to fire. If your unlikely to survive that fire it will begin to feel broken, especially if nothing else in the game can hurt you in that way. Just saying for folks who run low hull ships that depend on dodge and/or stealth (lookin' at you here my Vree compatriots) we often will not live to play the maneuver game, which realistically doesn't start until turn two or three.
