Funny sided dice and strange Ideas

Have any of y'all considered using the full range of dice available for generation stats in traveler?

i.e. 2d4 for small, 2d6 for med etc.... for size related stats.

Or adding a interpersonal attribute? (charisma)

Or a perception Attribute?

I'm just tinkering here.

TNE added Charisma. It truly did render Soc a dump stat for non-nobles.

Non-six-sideds are just plain un-Traveller (TNE notwithstanding).

Perception really is part of Traveller Intelligence. Adding another stat to cover it nerfs Int, in the same way adding Health cuts into Endurance.

Well, yes, but Soc has always been a dump stat for non-noble humans.

I'll kinda concede that. It just truly smalls get hosed with a linear roll, 2d3? 2d6/2? either of those bit yah?

Kinda, though smart doesn't mean observant thou....

Figured Attributes? Per = (Int + Edu)/2 ..... Starts looking like hero after while down that path.

So what is T20? Chopped liver? ;)

Yes, and in desperate need of a players book.... Oh wait they did one, is any better than that chapter in the main book?

yes, it is. Not perfect, but it is better.

Good, as that was the biggest thing holding that edition back, other than the author.... 8-)

Have to say that all the other games I've been involved in over the past few years all use polyhedrals of some form or other, as do a few wargame rules. So - there's something quite homely and friendly in coming back to D6s that just reinforce the best traditions of Traveller....

I still plan to "translate" MGT into the new BRP d100 system, mainly be-
cause my players and I feel that a percentile system is somewhat more
intuitive and easy to understand and handle - you can see immediately
what a success chance of 20 % or 80 % means.

After I had come up with our current setting, we first used GURPS Tra-
veller (and still do, for most of the technology), and then switched to
Cthulhu Rising (a science fiction variant of Call of Cthulhu) because of
the d100 system.

As soon as I have the German edition of MGT (announced for July 15th
now, with the new deckplans and some errata), we will take a look whe-
ther we can "translate" characters and tasks to the new BRP (out right
now).
