Funniest Battle Moment...

GhostRecon

Mongoose
...Seeing the shortest battle thread made me wonder some wonky or funny things that happened in other people's battles.

Mine:

In one battle, the Narn player I was fighting crippled a Marathon and dropped it to 4 (!) damage... and promptly boarded it with two of his Thentus' (Thenti?). Obviously, the 8 Narn mowed through my poor (stupid) EA Marines, and started to butcher the crew when hilarity ensued... the overzealous Narn soldiers hit a vital system while butchering my equally poor (incompetent) crew, promptly exploding the entire ship, with them in it! Only the Narn.

In another fight, the Narn player crippled (another) Marathon (Seems to happen alot) and boarded it (Which also happens alot...)... a fierce board and counter-board battle started, as my Chronos hugged the Marathon and repelled the Narn invaders with their Marines, only for new ones to arrive and steal away the Marathon again... my other Marathon burns in and recaptures the Vessel, only for the Narn player to decide enough was enough, and promptly obliterated it with half of his fleet. So much for that... (My Narn opponent really likes boarding, too. With 4 troops per Thentus, which he fields clouds of, they can rip you up with beams, then steal away your ships...) At least they didn't blow themselves up.

Hum. Centauri vs Narn campaign battle. Big bad Bin'Tak as Narn flagship. Until nasty run of criticals from centauri precise beams pretty much disabled ship causing it to move like inch per turn, no jump engine, no SA's, guns mostly out and unable to fix anything...

Felt like fish on ground flapping feeblessly unable to do anything but fire with what little it had left. Nearest table edge was about 20" away and that was behind so would need to turn around

He almost DID manage to retreat that ship though as friendly narn ship tried to put jump point to front of it but I managed to take out said ship before big beast could escape to fight another day.

had a Sunhawk get the three bad crits when we were using first edition rules. The target was a Ka'Bin'Tak and ended up getting a 0 speed, no shooting and no repairs all on turn 1 before it could fire a shot.

In my games the EA never seems to get any good crits with his bigger ships, but ALWAYS manages to get the perfect crits with those darn Hermes...Can´t recall many battles where this would not have happened :D

Again, 1st edition rules - in this case the original boxed set.

A Victory-class destroyer comes barrelling out of a jump point, centrelining its forward guns on a raider supply convoy which is (quite reasonably) bricking itself.

I have initiative, so get to fire first with one ship before everything gets neutron lasered to death.

A strike carrier fires with its mighty port pulse cannons of naffness - the only thing with range and arc. 1 damaging hit, which resulted in The Critical Hit of the Beast (6-6-6) and destroyed the Victory in a single massive explosion.[/i]

I took and spent a small fortune £ on Dilgar Jashaka JPB scouts
first turn all 6 entered from behind Tanks early era fleet
all mostly Hull 4 ships catching all 12 or so ships
mostly olympus Gun ships, saggs (priority targets)
and a few artemis hull 5
Novas and hyperion

ended up killing several ships out right crippled many more...only to be told that we'd not realised it was an assasination scenario and you couldn't use JPs!!!!

I preceeded to take the rest of the game to loose very badly

worst case of having to eat my own cheesey fleet ..ever!

Playing my ISA vs another ISA fleet at 5pt War... he started moving White Stars forward and CAF'd my Victory. I init sinked with my Drazi allies, until he had moved about 10 of them. Then I Afterburnered the Viccy forward, out of arc of all of them

Watching a certain White Star Commander spend most of his game lining up shots on my Corvan whilst the Liati and Demos squadron ripped them to pieces - the Corvan did eventually die................ :D

A lesson taught and learned in that game

LBH

My last game with Triggy had some moderately comical moments, as my Dargan strike cruiser routinely failed to do much damage worth mentioning with its front armament, but killed two ships, one salvo each, on two consecutive turns, with its port ion cannons...

Blockade run my opponent tok an adira. I was playing a horde of Early EA. My opponents ship had in the end suffered more crits than the no. of attack diced fired as it was all beams. Mhuhahaha locotus.

Just had a game with Silashand and W [something] (sorry, man, can't remember your name) on Sunday.
Silas brought Drahk, W brought EA and I had ISA. WS and WSG unload on a Drahk Heavy raider from point-blank range. Raider goes BOOM with WS, WSG and about 8 flights of fighters in range of the blast. 9AD to each ship/flight. Total damage: 2 Flights die.

Same game, Light Raider in rear arc of Blue Star. No hits. Following turn: "I can't get away no matter what... Wait! I know how to escape!"
Pull off the skindance and kill the Light Raider.

I thought it was funny, anyway. I'm sure after dropping a WS in 1 round and then not being able to kill anything else with 3 fleets of 6 Raid on the table wasn't so funny for him though. Dice can be very funny sometimes...

One Falkosi blowing up an undamaged Vorchan with a single shot. The Brakiri player (who knows who he is...!) rolled about 5 6's in a row. We reckoned that the Falkosi pilot, who for the rest of the game failed to hit anything at all, was too busy sending the gun-camera video to all his mates going "did you see *that*?!?!"

Had a game were my avioki, and my friends g'quan both 1-6 crited each other in the first round, and majestically sailed past each other, and off the table. Both of us failed every damage control roll for both ships.

I suppose it would have to be my friend, as three WS fighters were about to open fire on his pristeen Adira Flagship.
"I suppose now it'll be taken out without getting to fire a shot..."

Yep three Criticals
No Moving
No Firing
No Damage control....

I suppose at least under 2e it might have drifted off the table!

it was under the first edition acta rules.

My group of 4 Vorchan got after an omega and the first of them
was hit by a rear weapon and got bang with a 6-6.

-the second vorchan was caught in the explosion
and 6-6 goes boom
-the third was caught in the second ones explosion
and 6-6 goes boom, too
-the fourth on was caught in the third ones explosion
and lost all weapons and was left with around 5 hull points.

a sad day for the lion of the galaxy...
