Fleet Carrier and VPs

Since a fleet carrier can recover any flights that it could normally carry, and flights bought as independent wings yield 1 VP each when destroyed, if an independent flight is destroyed, recovered, launched, and destroyed again, does it yield 1 VP each time it is destroyed, or just 1 per battle?

If you're playing with this official rule I'd say that only the flights from independant wings that are dead at the end matter for VP. If you killed it and it came back, it's not really dead now is it?

Honestly, 1VP per flight in this manner is not a fair calculation of VPs though. all it is, is a quick and easy book keeping methond. Is a Delta-V the same value as a white star fighter? Totaling them up by numbers per wing is far better. Award "crippled" value if you can kill over 50% of the wing...

Agreed but that really is another arguament :P

Yeah, I don't like the new VP rules for fighters either. A wing of fighters should be worth the same VPs as any other wing, no matter the quantity or quality of the individual flights. Though I think I found the answer to my own question: VPs can only be scored once for a given ship. I'll go with that unless there is something more definative.

Small point - they're not new, they're the same as in SFoS!

They should be worth the same as every other wing though.

I agree its a completely insane rule that looks like it was tacked on without any real thought - it proactively encourages players to not take independent fighters.

VPs have always been based on how much something cost so to see 1 Firebolt Wing worth the same dead as a Kortha wing is simply crazy.

The way I would treat it is that a flight recovered by a Fleet carrier is not actually destroyed. Think of it as a last-ditch saving throw. Theoretically it is supposed to be the same fighters that have been rearmed and refulled, not new ones that the Carrier has conjoured up to replace them.

Since the flight is not destroyed, the enemy should not get VPs. VPs are only awarded when the target is dead and stays dead!

I think you meant to say flights, not wings

Yeah, I don't really have an issue with what? 4 flights? of Firebolts being worth the same VP as 10 flights of Gaim fighters.

I do take issue with 10 flights of Gaim fighters being worth more VP than 4 flights of Firebolts...
