The Gangs:
Team Turtle (Rep 11) vs The Wild Bunch (Rep 14)

Scenario:
Two newly formed gangs descend on the ruins of a recent power plant explosion, looking for something shiny to loot. Neither side is very pleased to find another gang in the area...

Set-up:
The Wild Bunch enter from the north, taking cover behind some (mysteriously stationary :-) ) vehicles. Seymour (always a bit of a loner) chooses an alternative route.

Team Turtle are already skulking around the abandoned cargo containers (apart from Purdy, lost as usual, in the other side of the city).

The Game:
The Wild Bunch make the first move. Bilson takes charge, and moves up with Sam, towards the rubble beside the plant, whilst his trusted Lieutenant Wulf Moves up with Sparky to the subway entrance. The other, lighter armed gangers crouch behind cover, ready to take pot shots at anyone who dares show themselves.

Team Turtle, already in decent cover, move into better firing positions. Fast Eddie is the first to break cover, and weaves skilfully through the rubble, taking shelter behind a burnt out loading droid.

Bilson blasts away at Fast Eddie, but the rusting droid makes excellent cover, and the barrage of stump gun shells are ineffective. Sam picks her way around the droid to get a better shot, but misses.

Emboldened by Fast Eddies example, Scope dives into the nearby crater, and fires at Bilson, but the shot is stopped
by the plasteel barricade. Nick edges forward to cover the Subway and prevent any sneaky flanking manoeuvres. Fast Eddie opens fire with both handguns, and although a shot hits, Sam shrugs it off.

Bilson and Sam continue to blast away without effect, as Seymour moves in to back them up.

Scope and Fast Eddie continue to shoot wildly, making a lot of noise, but no damage. Turtle and Carla slowly advance into better firing positions.

Seymour arrives at Sams side, giving Sam the encouragement she needed – a well placed Stump shell later, and Fast Eddie is out of the fight with a minor injury. Bilson's second hand stump gun chooses a bad time to jam, and he frantically unjams it as he crouches behind the barricade.

Turtle and Carla are not phased by Eddies sudden departure, and coolly pick off both Sam and Seymour. Seymour is lucky to escape with a minor injury, but Sam is seriously wounded. Scope once again fails to live up to his name, and continues to blast away at Bilson with no shots on target. With most of the threat in the rubble dealt with, Jenna moves up to support Nick.

Bilson finally manages to wing Scope, who goes out with a minor injury. UT and Annie move up to Wulf, ready to make a push round the flanks.

Purdy finally realises she is in the wrong place, and sprints back toward the action. Everyone else stays put, watching for movement.

Annie breaks cover, ducks under a wild shot from Jenna, and fires back just as wildly. Wulf pops round the corner, intending to give Nick both barrels, but this is just what Nick has been waiting for. Nicks shot takes Wulf out of the fight, with serious damage to his arm. Seeing their heavily armed and armoured Lieutenant taken out right next to them is too much for Annie and UT, who scarper. Bilson has no intention of making a last stand on his own, so he chases off after the remnants of his gang.

The Winners:
Team Turtle are victorious!

Afterward:
Post battle, almost all of Team Turtle manage to learn from the experience of their first real battle. Nick becomes the gangs second lieutenant, Turtle and Scope gain improved leadership, and many gangers discover they have improved their agility. The Wild bunch have nothing to show but injuries, and to add insult, Wulf is taken hostage.

Flushed with success, Team Turtle take over a nearby Shopping Mall, and the teams 4 juves turn a tidy profit. All the cash is soon spent, on shiny new pad armour, several double barrelled stump guns, a few Hand Bombs, and Cleavers all round. Final Rep: 21

The Wild bunch are in big trouble, with one key member taken hostage, another out for the next fight, and not much cash left. A few hand bombs, and a double barrelled stump gun are bought in desperation - the next fight is going to be tough. Final Rep: 12

Game took about 1h 15 min, not including initial explanation of rules, terrain set up and post battle buying and trait selection (about 2h altogether). Not bad for a first game with two newbie players. I think it will go much faster next time.

Great report!
I am excited to be playing this game soon. I believe he has everything for it.

Love the city you've got there. WorldWorks does great stuff.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

The WorldWorks terrain is fantastic, and very addictive to build :-) I have more pictures of this city in my WorldWorks gallery http://wwgallery.pcinfoman.com/thumbnails.php?album=390

My first GOMC1 battle was great fun, and there will certainly be another one soon. I played the losing side, so the next battle is going to be very tough. Time to paint up a couple of Judges I think :-)

My wife (leading Team Turtle) wasn't too keen on the fact that models have 360 degree vision, so you don't get any advantage from flanking. Next time we will be trying out a house rule, giving models a 90 degree fire arc (and needing to spend a move action to turn). Then she will be able to sneak up on my poor outnumbered gangers :-(

I love what you did with the terrain. Fantastic stuff.

Sorry to hear you lost against your wife... but think of it this way... anyone that wins their first game is going to get hooked and be eager for the next match... and since you are already hooked, it was the best result you could hope for.

Almost as if I had planned it :-) I don't mind losing, as long as the game is fun, and it certainly was.
