Hi,
Here is an early attempt that I tried for a 10 dton fighter based a little on the F-104 Starfighter and a little on the Rampart fighter from the original Traveller.
Unfortunately it came out quite large, being over 18.6m long by 4.3m high and about 9.34m wide (though you could maybe get that down to about 3.6m wide by maybe 4m tall if the wings and tail fold. That gives a bounding box of about 53.4 dtons to fit a 10 dton craft. [Edit] If I've done the math right, you could scale up to a 40 dton craft by increasing the dimensions by 1.58 in all directions, which would give a length of 29.5m, a height of 6.8m and a width of 14.8m. As such, a 40 dton craft like this would be very big.[end Edit]
Next for curiousity I also looked at a more compact lifting body like craft, as shown below.
If I've done everything right then this craft looks like it would fit into a box about 11.4m long by 3.87m wide by 3.62m high, which is about 160 cubic meters or 11.4 dtons, though if you were to add space for access, landing gear, and hanger structure etc, you'd probably need more space.
Anyway, just some info that I thought I'd share.
