Fighter check

Could someone familiar with the HG construction sequence check this for me and let me know if everything is OK?

Sorry about the formatting, how do you get a table into this?

Little hard to read because not sure which is tonnage vs costs (since things with no tonnage or no cost have those values omitted) - but I'd love to help! :)

I haven't finished going through the design yet but I immediately see a problem with the cost of the Reinforced Hull. The true cost is MCr0.1 * amount of Hull Reinforcement tonnage. In the case of your fighter, 10% of 20 tons is 0.2 so the cost for reinforcement is 0.2 * MCR0.1 = MCr0.2, not MCr2.0

Also, what does the 1 on the Streamlined Structure line represent? Streamlining increases hull cost by 10% but there's no tonnage requirement. Your cost number of 0.12 is correct.

I've finished my first pass through the design and found the following potential issues.

1) Aerofins - cost is per ton of aerofin, not base hull, so the cost is (0.05*20)*0.1 = MCr0.1
2) Armour - I thought cost for 4 points of armour is 20% of the base hull cost (i.e. 0.2 * 1.2) giving a cost of MCr0.24. I've looked at the armour costs in the example small craft that have armour and the costs don't follow the formula.
3) Laser Turret - Turret cost is MCr0.2 while the Long Range laser cost is MCr1.1. Total cost should be MCr1.3
4) Fuel Reaction tonnage should be (2.5% * 20 tons) * 10 GHrs = 5 tons
5) Power Plant fuel for 2 days' duration could be calculated as the midpoint between the fuel for 1 day and 3 days. In other words, 25%-10%= 15%. (15%/2)+10% = 17.5%. This would give 17.5% * 20 = 3.5 tons

Not sure if this is an issue..an anti-spacecraft beam laser does 50 times its rolled damage when engaging ground targets (personnel, vehicles, buildings, etc.). Why not save the cost of the autocannons and just use the beam laser?

Going through the design with everyones help;
Cost of reinforced hull corrected
The 1 next to Structure was the structure points for the size of hull.
Aerofins, noted though this also means the example design on page 97 has the wrong cost there as well. (Actually are any of these designs not broken in some way?)
Armour protection 4 so 5% of 20dt so 1dt of armour costs 0.24MCr
Laser, this was one of the things that confused me – this laser is a fixed mounting but do the 2 autocannons mean I install a triple fixed mount costing 0.5MCr? while allocating 0 dt for fire control per page 111 core rulebook?
So assuming the fixed long range beam laser and two light autocannon require a triple fixed mount at 0 dt but costing 0.5MCr for the mount and 1.1MCr for the Beam Laser and 0.001MCr for each light autocannon.
Fuel Reaction Tonnage –we have a match for 5dt of fuel for 10GHrs
sG fusion power plant requires 1.5 dt of fuel for 2 weeks operation. Extrapolating therefore for 2 days it would require (25%+10%)/2 = 17.5% of this or 0.2625dt
As for fitting a beam laser and autocannon that was personal preference but what is the rate of fire for a spacecraft weapon when used in the 6 second ground combat rounds?
Adjusting everything as above (assuming this is right) cargo capacity also increases to 1.2375 dt

Oh and another thought, if I am correct about there not being any space for fire control can the craft have fire control software?

There's no point. High Guard explicitly states 1 ton of fire control is required for each turret and fixed mounts. My assumption is the F/C software communicates targeting info with the F/C hardware which then manages the mounted weaponry regardless of the mount type.

I'll leave the targetting software in place then and make sure I have the fire control space. Thatwill put the cargo capacity back down to 0.2375 dt which seems reasonable for a small fighter.

Yep. Just enough space for a lunchbox.

I forgot to address one of your questions..specifically, how to get a table into a forum post. Short answer: I don't know. I've tried to figure it out using their code buttons but couldn't. So when I need tables, I just separate the column entries using periods (or full stops if you're in Europe).

Examples of this are my posts to the "Space Superiority Fighter" thread in this forum at http://forum.mongoosepublishing.com/viewtopic.php?f=89&t=56561

Thanks re the formatting, i will insert full stops in future. You can get quite a large lunchbox into 0.2375 displacement tons since this is something over 3 cubic meters. Of course it depends what the pilot wants for lunch.
