Fighter Break-Off move

But oee point Wulf, the rule states "Carrier" yet you go on to talk about "Fleet Carrier"
Sorry, you're quite right. I commented from my advised rewrite...

So, it's per CARRIER... which means multiple free flights every campaign turn.. virtually no need to buy fighters again! A new use for Carriers, just sitting in space nowhere near any battle, replenishing all the other ships every turn...

Wulf

EDIT: I quoted the actual text, but commented from my advised rewrite.

basically yep, apart from them who havent got carriers that carry their fighter :( the ISA.
<strokes his White Star Carrier>
Well I won't be buying any white star fighters for 1 skirmish point each!

Remember, you can only transfer fighters between ships, not out of a ship into a Wing, so you can't get any more than you lose unless you have another ship than can carry the same type of fighter...

But there's no doubt this will benefit certain fleets way more than others. Minbari come to mind...

Wulf

yep, besides the whitestar carrier theres only the gunship which carries whitestar fighters and doubt anyone will use that. so my whitestars have to have their nials bought for them at 5RR each.

I don't think its too much of a worry. You would need a fleet festooned with Carriers or Space Stations to gain any massive benefit from it. And the only ones that spring to mind is the Abbai Milani and Brakiri Brikorta at Skirmish Level. Though free Sky Serpents are also kind of appealing.

Remember, though, this is for Campaigns, so you can afford a few extra points on Carriers for nothing more than regenerating fighters!

Wulf

Most of the available Carriers are at Battle/War/Armageddon level, so having more than 1 of these ships skulking around and not taking part in any games would be a godsend to any opponent. The Skirmish ones on the other hand....

In a Campaign? Any fleet that hasn't got a couple of spare Battle level ships unused in any Turn is overstretched.

Wulf

Early era EA can get the Avenger at Raid level. So for 1 raid point, you get 2/3 of a Patrol point of fighters every campaign round, even if you never field it.

LBH

So basically every ship with the carrier trait regenerates 2 fighter flights per campaign turn?

So no free fighters for Abbai. But lots of em for Raiders?

Just maing sure, the rule sounds cool ^^.

Yep, it's something that all ships with the Carrier trait get to do.

I forgot about the Raiders being festooned with Skirmish carriers along with the Abbai and Brakiri.

Yer makes Strike carriers kinda interesting, and Abbai get a back seat.....Brakiri do have the Brokados. Not much but a little.....

Oops, I forgot Milani followed the Balvarin design example of Carriers. It doesn't have the Carrier trait....
If your ship carried Kotha you'd be in no hurry to let people see them either.

Wulf

Oh well it is kinda fun, that a race that values life and peace, has the worst and most kamikazi fighters around. Good for a holdup action so stuff doesnt shoot you, thats it....

Always thought the Kotha should survive always on a 6 (Shields) and Vorlon/Shadows the same but saying it was self repair.
