FAP question

I noticed the FAP faq on the website is missing the sentences about using points bought to buy higher level ships. Does this mean that I can only use the points breakdown on the table? For instance, as stated in the book I can buy 12 patrol for 1 war. Ill use 8 of that on patrol ships and with the leftover 4 buy 2 skirmish level. Is this still allowed, or does the exclusion of that sentence mean I can only buy 12 patrol as stated on the table?

You can use points to buy higher level ships (i.e. using two war points to buy 1 armageddon-priority ship) - but you can't break that war point down and then build it back up in a different way.

When you break down a point, you can then break down one furhter point to even smaller ships, but not add two of those broken-down points back up to get a ship of a priority level you 'missed' when breaking down.

You can split the point down to skirmish (8), then split one further point to patrol (7 skirmish, 2 patrol), or you can split step-by-step, getting 1 battle, 1 raid, 1 skirimish, and 2 patrol.

confusing, but i see now. you can only buy the full points as listed on the table and then use one point only and break it down further till you get to patrol. that is an odd way of doing things. thanks.

Hasn't that all been replaced by the FAP FAQ now? Basically, if it's not in the chart in the FAQ, you can't have the split. (At least, I thought that that was the current situation...)

Your correct Neko, but the reason the splits listed are can still be figured out.

Basically they said the splits are the base table with only one point being able to be split further down and only one level at a time. It's confusing no matter how your write it, so they simply did the table and said there they are, your list of choices.

Ah, that extra bit about not being able to skip levels now would explain why I was coming up with options not in the chart.
*was caught out trying to split a Battle point into 1 Raid and 4 Patrol*
