sorry bit late to reply, yep barrel clasps are the fittings used usually on bracelets or necklaces, 2 piec a male and feamale end i find 10mm ones work all round.
snip of the loop at the end, drill the feamale end to fit over your stem, then glue other half into your model, its sounds fiddly but once you get the right drill and have done it a few times its pish easy.
all models will then sit flat for transporting and be more stable, your stems dont break, as you cut a little further down, if anyone wants ill post a quick pick so you can see
