Experimenting with creating a deckplan in sketch up

I am having a crack at doing the first deck of the stretched far trader in sketchup (obviously) and I wanted to show off really :P

Here is the first shot, just the inner walls and outer bulkheads.

You can really see how the expansion has affected it.
I'm going to be doing the bridge and staterooms first, then engineering.

Here we go :D staterooms and the bridge done (at least the crew staterooms)

And the absolute faff that is engineering. Oh power-plants, how I hate thee...

I think I am actually done with the lower deck :D
Upper deck inbound...

Each stateroom has its own 'fresher... i'll draw them eventually...
Or at least one has one and we all share :D
Or they pull out of the walls...

Engineering chief, Commander Snotty was overheard...
  • Blasted mix is off again! If I catch that blasted son of a Vargr vermit that been piss'n in my tanks - so help me!

Put him out the lock I will - and he can push till we hit atmo!

I'm curious about the bridge being on the lower deck. Unlike most designs in the past I have seen with a up top pilot/aircraft cockpit look. Wouldn't it limit the view from there? but maybe this ship relies more on monitors of cameras I would guess.

I noticed you omitted the three smaller access doors in lue of a large back section/door. I'm curious what made you decide on it?

I notice you have a section in the back for upper storage is it for secure storage? In designs I have seen similar but usually it would be meant for a ships boat or something along the lines. for example middenface's design of a "Fat Trader"

It is a well made sketchup :) congrats
