Excel Ship Designer v2024.12.08a

I'll take a look at power and get back with you shortly, but Custom Crew overrides everything, while still giving you suggestions on staffing (Civ and Mil) for systems installed.
Toss me the summary on the Feature chain?
Feature chain? I was basically envisioning it as a hollow void to be filled with either cargo or fuel. The fact that I can use the sheet to swap back and forth makes a single design easy. What else do you need beyond hull? I'll admit to thinking its a big tin can, but feature chain makes it sound fancy. ;)

I didn't want to clog up here with a string of summaries going back and forth. I was talking about the Feature Test mail chain, but was having a brain fart on it.
The module setting should wipe out the Power Errors... unless you HAVE power. Let me know if it doesn't do that.
Also saw that it makes you keep basic sensors on a module. So the new version will let you take it to zero on the main sensor, but throws an error if the sheet is NOT set to module.
Edit: New version will also show Purchase price on the summary under the total price if the standard design discount applies.

Ah. Now I understand. Sorry, I'm dense today. Notes coming that way.

NEW VERSION 2024.11.20

Got a workaround for Pods. Use Module on Ship's Info, but say YES for fully spaceworthy pod. That will let you get away with no bridge, get the cost reduction for no gravity and put a power plant inside. It CAN have SCC's.
Modules no longer make you put a scanner in, so you can go to zero without hitting an error
The Record Sheet Tab is gone. The Summary Tab replaces it.
Non-gravitic hulls now properly reduce power requirements.

Thank you!

You're Welcome.
Now to see what I broke in the process.
The numbers seem correct, and nothing looks like it is obviously broken, though I did see a few things on the summary tab.

1. Standard is in the hull description twice.
2. I selected no computer, but it still lists library software.

The computer area is grayed out, which is because it is a pod, not because I selected no computer. The software should likely go blank and gray with no computer, too.

Partial Standard = Standard Hull configuration, Partially Streamlined. Shape
Standard Hull is in contrast to Light Hull or Reinforced Hull. Thickness/Hull points

Totally agree on software. Forgot about changing the computer so it could go away. Surprised Intellect went away.

New Version: 2024.11.22

Summary now includes the Narrative from Ship's Info Tab.
Supply Units now reported, and an internal hold is available to reserve that tonnage in. While ANY cargo hold counts towards the daily supply points, for now only the dedicated hold calculates how many days of supplies are available.
337 vehicles/craft/riders now available. Thanks Terry.

A note on the Summary Narrative: Each line will show a maximum of 58 characters, and the narrative in the Summary is currently limited to a maximum of 20 lines. Most legacy ship blurbs of fluff don't come near that. I have tried to ensure words don't get cut off, but I got annoyed at the nested loops, so if you have a word at the end of a line that is more than 10 letters long, it's getting hyphenated.
The lines on the summary have no relationship with the ends of lines on the Ship Info tab.

Hotfix 2024.11.22a

Improved the calculation for supply units
Terry suggested calculating supplies based on extended missions, so either 100 days or the weeks your power plant's fuel is designed to last.
In each case, the number of minimum days is reported in the Cargo tab and the number of days you have is displayed in the summary.

I put a 3x Plasma Gun turret in hardpoint 1, with 'Long Range'. That should take it from 'Medium' to 'Long' range, but it shows as 'Medium' on the SSD & Capital SSD sheets.

Similarly for the 3x Pulse Laser turret in HP2 -- it should have gone from 'Long' to 'Very Long'.

Going to be several of hours before I can get to my computer. Is the range changing for HP4? The first three hp's are set up a little differently.

I duplicated HP 1 & 2 to HP 6 & 7 -- same result. There is a note in the 'remarks' of 'Range +1'. Also, some remarks are not separated by a comma from other remarks.

New Version 2024.11.26

Changed the way Long Range mod reports. Previously it was Rng +1 to avoid tripping over missiles.
Now it bumps the weapon's reported range by one step.
Terry supplied more craft! Over 380 supported so far.

I installed a Ion Barbette on my Drinaxi Harrier design for the sake of a discussion I was having -- and the damage showed as 7D x3. In HG update 2022, it reads as 2d6 x10 (plus another x3 for 'Barbette'). Was there an errata I missed?

My copy, on page 30, says 7D
Date modified says August 31, 2022.

The old edition, on pg 25 has it as 2d6x10
