EvoCommand.com - new BF:Evo Fan site

Anytime I recommend the game to anyone I send them to EVocommand.

Its gotta be THE site on the net for everything game related. 8)

FYI, the recent issue we had with new user registrations not working ("username already exists") has been corrected.

Is our website's server down? Couldn't reach evocommand for two days now. :(

Does anybody know what is up today - 11/11/08 with evocommand - I get a 403 page not found error - what gives?

Evocommand is not something I've done. I have gotten the following response from my provider this a.m. Should be back soon.

Dear Customer,

The server requires a move to a new server today due
to file system errors it is currently experiencing.
We will shortly begin the migration of pollux to a new server.
Please note that sites are currently up and running for
Apache activity although you will be unable to upload files at this time or make any changes to your site.
Once all the accounts are restored to the new server we will bring that
online. We do not have an exact time for completion of this
migration but do not envisage any outages other than the
time it will take to boot the new server into service after
all accounts are moved over.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience in the interim, the tranisition should be seamless.

Kind regards.
Lunarpages systems admin team.

I hope evocommand does not go the way of sicon command.

I apologize for the delay in a response. For those who are unaware, I am located in Western Kentucky, USA. Last week KY was hit with the worst ice storm/natural disaster in the Commonwealth's history. The storm has kept us in an electrical/water/heat/media blackout since last Tuesday, January 27th. Without internet service or electricity my personal family of 8 was forced to leave our home last Friday for warmer shelter due to my youngest (9 months old). We just returned home late last evening. We have now regained power and cleanup efforts have begun.

That said, due to the blackout I missed the email message from my web host that the credit card I had on file for automatic payment was expired. I also didn’t pay with alternate means in the grace period allotted so the site has been temporarily suspended. Payment was made earlier this morning so now it is unfortunately a waiting game for things to come back online.

The forum became overrun with spam/viruse links/porn and was unrecoverable without more hours of work than I have to sink in what is essentially a dead game for me. I burned 8-10 hours trying to recover the database only to have it overrun again twice in about a week. The forum uses phpBB2.0 which has since been replaced with 3.0 so there are no fixes to close the security hole in the forum and I couldn't figure out where the spam bots were were entering the site/database. An ambitious person could soak a few hours or so to convert the database/site to 3.0. Once converted all of the spam would have to be cleaned up again. That said all content regarding the medals and awards would be lost and have to be recreated manually as there is no conversion of that content to 3.0 (which is why I never converted from 2.0).

As such the site is dead and will be shutting down when the subscription ends at the end of the month. I hate to see it come to that but I simply cannot commit to the site at this time.

If anyone wants the domain name/site, let me know ASAP and I'll transfer the ownership freely.

@paladin

It's a pity what happened to your forum. But the onslaught of spam bots was also very massive. But I have a question, if there gives a possibility to get access to the forum to save a thread? Or is the database now completely broken?

What's the cost to run the site month to month?

I don't have a good way to pull individual content out.
