Everyday Orlanth

One other point - try to mirror reality too close and half the time you end up with farce and caricature (sp!). I have to admit that one or two games go way too much into detailing social origanization... which ends up with a group having the population of a large high school having a govermennt considerably more complex than Republican Rome. I think, as written in Cults of Terror, Thanatar falls into this category. Waaaaay too fiddly considering the usual grouip is a few dozen guys hiding in a cave.

I like to think that when Tien and Lhankor Mhy went head to head in their battle of wits, Lhankor Mhy managed to teach Tien the benefits of having a well-organised temple structure and the resulting Thanatar beaurocracy would be approved of by any Lhankor Mhy Sage.

Oh quite possibly. But it does seem odd, to say the least. And the nitpicky-finnickey organizations are usually found in the more lovingly constructed cults such as Caladra and Aurelion and Thanatar. Perhaps too much of a muchness.

If nothing else, Karsht's bureaucracy has the virtue of being fairly streamlined. :D

Since HW/HQ feats roughly, and I emphasize roughly, correspond to Divine Spells in RQ, each of these subcults has a lot of divine spells available to them. In RQ terms, they are the equivalent of minor cults rather than subcults. So, you have 5 different versions of Vinga, all but one being the equivalent of minor cults. So, they would be similar in scope, but clearly not in scale, to the different Aspects of Orlanth, Yelm or Ernalda.

Very, very roughly. Greg's said on several occasions that its often more like an affinity or the entire subcult being the equivalent to a divine spell.

Though, I would point out in all those examples, the HW cults all share 2 of the same affinities - which is a signature feature of a god's aspect. I stand by my descritpion of her being several subcults of an aspect or Jeff's view that she is really several different minor goddesses.

I reallky wish that the Lodril/Oria material had made the cut in CoG2 as those two cults are very interdependent.

Maybe they'll appear in CoG3?[/quote]

Who knows? I think the best I can hope for is putting in the Errata
"Ernalda is known as Oria in Peloria" and putting in an Oria specific spell. Its not true but it may simply have to suffice. And its depressingly GLish.
