Empires of the Hyborian age What happened to it???

The thief handbook is also off the list. This is the second time that Mongoose has pulled the plug on a empire building book for Conan (if this just isn't a mistake) let's hope it is just delayed :x

Since all the upcoming products have been removed I'm thinking it is just a web page thing - maybe because of the new upgrade coming soon. I'm sure they will be back!

Something wonderful. . .

Seriously, very big things are happening with Conan, so these two titles (along with a couple of adventures) have been temporarily postponed.

It will all make sense soon, and it will all be Good.

so will I have any new Conan to buy at this years gen con?

I wonder if this means Conan is going to Runequest?

With all due respect, the "big things are coming with Conan" hype is kinda old Mat. The forum is littered with that promise over the years. I guess when in doubt go with the old standby eh?

I would like to think we have lived up to expectations on the Conan line up to now.

I totally agree - the game is awesome and I support it by buying the books and promoting the releases on conan.com. I'm just saying that we have gnawed the hell out of the once a year 'big things are coming" bone Matt tosses to us rabid fans. Why not mix up the same old message, like this:

Things are going to be different around here in a few months. The status quo as you know it is going to change. The website, the color books are back and like Yag-kosha flying across space & time we know the future and guarantee you this will not be your daddy's Conan.

Now that has some meat us fans can fight over. :D

True!

Unfortunately, I really cannot give away any hints at the moment - however, the disappearence of Empires and the other books deserved an explanation.

and the explanation is ...

I refer the honourable gentleman to the first post I made on this thread.

Can you replace "soon" by something more clear in terms of days or weeks (month not allowed  ) ?

Thx,
W.

Only someone involved with the marketing of rpgs could possibly regard November as 'soon'.

And to be honest cryptic (even Delphic) utterances such as 'all will be good', 'very big things' and 'something wonderful' are just plain annoying.

If you know, speak plainly. If not keep quiet. If you know but for some bizarre reason cannot speak plainly, keep quiet.

Frankly, if Mongoose know what these 'big things' are now then they should just say. Unless of course the reason they're not saying is because d20 based Conan sales will likely plummet (yes, I know a few folk will get the stuff while they can, but new sales won't be likely if the line is doomed) if a percentile based game is to be released.

Mongoose isn't the only rpg company with the strange idea that vague mutterings are somehow worthwhile. I don't want to be seen as singling them out for that reason. It is a disease that afflicts most small-medium sized rpg companies.

You cannot "temporarily postpone" a d20 crunch book as Thief Companion...unless you keep d20 as the Conan system (or one othe Conan systems)...
...I hate these kinds of announcements...Matt, please next time do not speak! (..and keep Conan a d20 game..)

Hmmm... guess we will have to wait and see. But it makes me a bit leary of a change to Conan. Like a new rule set or something. I can't think of another reason they would pull books this close to being out. I mean maybe going back to all color but that doesn't seem likely.

Hopefully it is not a new rule set, but as I said, guess we will have to wait and see.

I have to agree this "Ive got a seeeecret" stuff gets old fast. It has certainly but my buying schedual on hold until it comes out. I am still annoyed at them other guys over the secrecy of 4e. If conan goes the same way I will be less than thrilled about that as well.
