Empires binding

Mongoose
I just visited my FLGS and picked up a copy of Empires - every copy that they had had the same binding problem, a blob of glue about 1cm from the spine on the top edge of the pages that spreads across the first half of the sheaf. It's probably been squeezed out from in between the front cover and the inside cover lining page. Take care opening your copy and separating the pages. The store owner was a little surprised, as the binding problems that Mongoose had in the past appeared to have gone with recent releases.

Mine's fine.
I'm afraid I haven't had the chance to read it yet, and may be a while until I do so I can't offer a proper review yet.

They have indeed - if you let me know which store this was, we will swap those books out for him.

I'll leave that decision up to the store. The glue seemed to be coming off without damaging the pages, but if someone gets a copy that has had glue drying for 6 months on it then it might cause damage.

I just got my copy straight from Mongoose Towers and it has the same blob of glue issue. It's caused some minor damage to a little bit of the top of the first 50-60 pages. As problems go, niggling.

Someone else was asking about how well it adheres to RQII rules. I've only skimmed it so far but no glaring errors have jumped out at me. The only thing I've noticed is one piece of example text (p10) where RQ1 players update rules for opposed rolls with skills over 100% are used rather than RQ2. This has the effect of changing the result.

I didn't buy the original Empires so I can't say how it compares. It does have sections on renown and guilds/factions which I presume have been adapted from other MRQ1 sources.
