Elric Movie Update (and two other surprises)

This is encouraging. I hope to hell that this movie gets made and that it retains the flavor of the books without compromising too much. I can't imagine a PG-13 version of Elric, but I'm sure that's what the producers would want.

Also, we need an unknown to play Elric. Wouldn't you hate to see someone like Tom Cruise in the part. Yeech.

At least Elric just kills people a lot, probably about as many as in Lords of the Rings.

I honestly think Tilda Swinton is the best Elric I can think of. She has played male/androgenous characters before - and can be stone cold.

Of course there may be some relatively unknown who could do it better. I just hope they don't do anything silly like get the guy from The DaVinci Code.

The Final Programme was already made. It was eventually released in USA with the alternate title "Last Days of Man on Earth". The Final Programme was recently released on DVD. We have some sound clips from the movie and images over at multiverse.org.

Bowie has a look that lends itself well to playing a Melnibonéan. I could easily see him as Sadric or Yrkoon.

I second the motion that Jonathan Rhys Meyers would be great as Elric. Has anybody seen him play King Henry VIII in the TV show The Tudors? I think he's doing a great job playing the role.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers was excellent in "Gormenghast" and I will second the vote for Bowie as Sadric.

I always thought that Vincent Cassell would be awesome as Yrkoon. What about Michael Wincott as Sadric? 8)
