Cosmic Mongoose
Hey guys, have finished work on my scenario pack. 1st attempt at something like this so dont be too harsh please :D scenarios are quite hard to come up with new ones but heres the link:

http://www.mediafire.com/?dy82sv0bzna

it includes a new era fleet list for the centauri plus some variants and new ships for the EA/narn, as well as counters. also included are stats for Urobachs valerius.

also there is a 2.1a of vassal with these ships in so you can all mess around with them there if you so wish as well.

hope you all enjoy and feedback is always appreciated.

cool going to download now - thanks :)

First glance it looks really good - the counters are a really nice touch 8)

the Supercarrier is scary good !! I though I had overdid it with my version but then I am guessing you are going for the next gen technology across the board for all the ships?

Thanks for all the hard work I know has gone into it :)

Looks good the 20 rutarians on the super carrier may be over the top

it's tough yes, but then this carrier is marginally weaker than a Poseidon. It's definately scary though for sure

for the cost of the super carrier, say 4 raid points you can get 2 balvarins full of rutarians plus an extra rutarian flights. its also less fighters than a posiedon even if they are better, overall the EA generally has more fighters. and EA also got an escort with the fleet now too :D

really nice work...my ship has an honorable place, now.

katadder...why you not asked me for an better picture of the valerius?
i have some better pics for you.....

Very nice, I do have some concerns with a few of the ships, but within their own timeline they seem okay. I do like that the Titans made an appearance, and found the G'Kar very appropriate.

which ships? most of them are really quite balanced as they are usually smaller versions of ships we already know and love.

My main concerns were the Valerius which is significantly better the the Octurion in almost every aspect, and the Ares which is faster, more agile, has better pulse guns and is tougher than the Olympus for the loss of the missiles.

true on valerius i guess. didnt really compare to octurion as was supposed to be a small adira which it works out as.

ares was supposed to be able to go up against vorchans and be comparable there. the olympus isn't in crusade era so it was matched more with the chronos in abilities (where the chronos has twice the interceptors and AF of the ares) and on this the lack of turret is a weakness it has when compared to either the chronos or olympus. it has more pulse than either of these vessels but is stuck with front facing on its railguns and the turreted missiles on an olympus more than make upfor it IMO anyway. also being agile only means it gets its turn 0.5" before either an olympus or chronos.

vorchar has less firepower than the combined firepower of a vorchan/demos and barely matches the front firepower of a centurion until you add the torps and that ship has side firepower too. ok it has a GEG 1 and can turn 90 degrees but its not like it can dodge or have AA so overall its not a bad ship. has no beams, only 28 damage and hull 5 which is what people call the glass jaw of the hyperion.

valerius as stated maybe is a little over but thats from downsizing the adira.

The Vorchar has GEG 1 which make it immune to most fighter attacks. It is 28/6 and 34/7 with the geg, which means it's really in the 34-36 points of damage range. It's as agile as a whitestar. Yes, it has no beams, but it has 22AD on it all that fire in 1 direction. A direction that I might add it will have no problems facing to an enemy since it is agile with 2/90 and is speed 14. I'll take this over the Centurian, every time.

ask most drakh players how good GEG1 is and they are not over keen on it. ok damage is almost like a centurions but it does lack fire in any other arc apart from forward.

the main qustion is would you take it over a vorchan/demos combo? not many would.

So you are asking me if I would take it over 2 of what I consider one of the most over gunned ships in the game, the demos? No, I would take the 2 demos as they have more firepower than several raid level hulls individually. Does that mean the ship isn't over the top? Nope.

Dave

Vorchar - the expected damage out put is just a bit high for a raid ship with this kind of maneuverability. Your primary defense is not the GEG, its positioning, unlike the Hyperion.

Valerious - pretty well covered

Balvar - This ship has much better firepower than the Poseidon and a much much better fighter compliment. The difference in damage numbers just isn't important enough given the differences in ability to project force.

I quite like the Amar and Tertius, and have only a minor concern over the Aquila. The stats are pretty good, but feels like it should have had stealth 4+ like its larger stablemate and a bit more damage/crew maybe.

EA list

Ares - felt it was a bit fast for it's firepower. It has a greatly enhance lounge range that does not feel paid for. The lower hull is covered by the increased damage and crew. Yes it's F arc dependent, but it is also fast enough to simply disengage and spin around and return. With the increase to side and forward firepower. I would have thought a speed of 10 or 12 a better match or less side firepower.

Chronos escort - felt it had a couple dice too many on the escort. specifcally it had more escort dice than its best arc in the regular hull. If it didn't retain it offense I would agree, but it really didn't lose much to gain the escort trait given the number of dice. This ship shouldn't be an even match for the Maximus and right now it feels better than it.

Chronos missile - the special rule allowing constant fire of the missile rack makes the regular chronos obsolete. Same t arc, sap rather than ap and I trade DD for P. Damage wise they are close, add in more hits and better crits and better range and well... its just better, the bane of player made stuff.

Zues - same issue as above. What you created here is just better than the hyperion. You do lose the rear beam, but you gain another flight. Aside from that trade off pretty much everything else is an upgrade. I have not crunched the math enough to say for sure, but the hull vs damage/crew feels like it favors the Zues against all but beams, and the flight computer feels free. I like the idea of the design, but the numbers are still making me feel the hyp is just being replaced rather than added to.

Titans I just love.... espcially the minibeams....wish the vorlons would field those on say a raid level carrier...=p

Narn -

the N'Toth feels a bit light in the damage points but it is a command ship with a mag gun. Still this is still the T'Loth frame isn't it?

G'Kar at battle feels like the beam should have been bore... but given the G'Vrahn I see what you are going for. It does surpass all the current G'Quans though which is the same issue as above. I think the G'Quan needs a boost so I'd smile and say sure, but some folks would be justified in looking at it and saying it's just a player made upgrade.

Do like the fighter even if it puts the poor Gorith out of a job.

Sorry if that seems harsh, I really like the supplement and think most of the ideas are really good. I had some concerns with things just being a bit better than other ships at the same level in the fleet. Comparing across levels is tougher as right now we are all still debating the small vs large thing. But as you can see, most of the issues are small fractions of a difference in opinion with few that are really tough.

For the most part Ripples comments match my own. Most of these ships aren't too bad but in many cases, they're just slightly better than the main list ships and therefore would become automatic choices.
