Early Years

I know, inevitably I just have to be a rebel and go against the flow.

However I'm thinking of both collecting general war fleets and early years fleets for ACTA:SFB.

Does anyone know how big a D4 Early Years cruiser is? Could I use the existing ADB metal D6/7 miniature for it?

Also I've got module Y, but does anyone know what is in Modules Y2 and Y3?

Here's a table of contents for the Y rules: http://www.starfleetgames.com/TOC%20Files/SFB_TOC_Y0.0_Early_Years.pdf

I hope that helps some.

Crazy question: What does MRB stand for??

Master Rule Book. It is the the Giant like 3 or 4 inch book that contains all the rules to play SFB from all Modules and Expansion. Mind you that is just the Rules. No Fluff, No Ship Descriptions, and no Scenerios. Just the Rules. And it only covers what is called the Alpha Sector (Main Trek Setting).

Other things poking around you might see are refrences to are:

G3A Master Ship Annex or G3 Annex - this is a book that list in code form the bare basic Stats. (Not Ship Cards for damage tracking) Things like Crew Unit Total, Boarding Party Totals, Ship Point Value, Number and type of Shuttle Craft, and any special notes need to play the Ship (Rareity of production build or Scout or carrier, etc.)

Refernce Rulebook - This is to Federation Commander what the MRB is to SFB.

Warbook - This Project under developement is going to be to Federation and Empires what the MRB is SFB

Got to admit Iain did have a lot of great answers but in the Star Fleet Univers it is the Master Rule Book. And yes I am crazy enough to start contemplating buying the new revision that just came out.

There is an electronic version of the SFB Master Rulebook on e23, too.

When it comes to the Early Years stuff for the Alpha Octant in SFB, the annexes in Module YG3 can help give a better idea of which modules include which ships.

The main thing that Module Y2 adds to the setting is the early Inter-Stellar Concordium. The W-era ships are from each of the five pre-ISC planets (more elaborate versions of the logos can be seen here) which served before the foundation of the Concordium itself; the Y-era ships were the first wave of hulls flown by the unified ISC Navy. (These ships had only two prongs, rather than the three-prong designs seen on modern ISC starships.) Y2 also adds some Terran National Guard ships, as well as more warships and variants for the pre-existing Early Years empires.

Y3 fleshes out more of the civilian units in service at the time, and adds yet more new ships for the various navies... including some Neo-Tholian command modules converted into impromptu warships by the early Holdfast.

Boneguard, a lot of players have those two sets and they are happy. But there are a lot of empires that got added in the new modules that others enjoy.

Rambler, you know you want to ... it's calling your name ... and in e-form, it's as light as your reader!

I have a lot more (I have all the Rs, the Js, the Ys, most of the Cs, the Omega setting, the K, M, the old D3 and P6 modules). Just not the MRB.

I figure I do have those rules, I just need to fish around for them in the various modules.

Boneguard, the assorted rules have had all errata and clarifications added in the new 2010 MRB (both print and e-version). That is the primary difference and many people seem to love it. :D
