Ducks!

Hi Guys!

Durulz....well ducks....do you get em to work in the world? How do you roleplay them? Like some Donald Duck (Most art of em looks like the worlds most famoused duck :( Just take a look at Apple Lane...)

I have a trouble with how to get em to work, and not just be silly and ruin the play-session...

Geeeez, ducks! :(

/Khamul :)

Play the Durulz as an oppressed race. Non-Durulz usually don't take Ducks seriously. They rarely get credit for any original idea or achievement, but the Durulz should not be underestimated. In battle, the bitterness of oppression can turn Ducks into vicious foes.

Ducks ?(when I use them) are utterly evil s.o.b.s and the few occassions I have uised them they have normally been utterly contemptable bandits, who allow others to do the dying so they can return to plague the party again and again.

The only 'complauint I tended to get has been:

'Oh, $%^&!, It's that duck again!' (Although with a lot more random punctuation than I have used here).

Personally I've never had a problem. As a GM I tend to run them pretty straight but there's always fun and jokes among the players and they provoke extreme reactions. That tends to make them larger than life characters.

The Billhook brotherhood section of Blood of orlanth certainly went down well with my group and they got genuinely upset when one of the mercenaries tried to rescue a friend only to get crushed under Thunderer.

I think if there's one species my players don't like it's Morokanths. There's an NPC morokanth in my Pavis Rises campaign called Mr Door and I suspect they think that death would be too good for him.

One of the things that drew me to Glorantha when I first started playing was the oddness of it. Ducks, morkanth, dragonewts, rubble runners, chaos snakes, walktapi. Even typing the names out takes me back to reading the single RQ book with all those strange, new ideas.
